Thanks! I'm afraid I've got a grotty cold and I've got to be up early tomorrow morning looking after two wee ones, so it's early to bed for me. Thanks for the invite though!

So, does that mean we need to find a DNA sequence?

What if the letter sequence that he gave us is the "answer" and that we need to work backwords from it?

Sorry, just throwing things out there...

Doing the addition in octal produces:

I=8+8=16=020
T=19-8=11=013
I=8+16=24=030
Y=24-16=8=010
E=4+16=20=024
T=19-16=3=03
I=8+24=32=040

In numeric order: 03.10.13.20.24.30.40. (If A=1 rather than A=0 then just add 1 to every number.)

Not sure this gets us anywhere though...

Edited: T=19, not 20!

Um...could you fill me in as to where the letters you are using came from?

sorry :oops:

Possibly. I'm certain base is a clue. Perhaps all our base are belong to Walter? :shock: :lol:

Can anyone make sense of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_%28chemistry%29 ?

Whoa wait this (base chemistry) is all reminding me of Potassium iodide and Yttrium oxide.

ugh i don't know most of what I am talking about.

Maybe it makes sense to one of you science-heads? :)

I'm afraid it's 24 years since I did any chemistry :-( I'd totally forgotten about that meaning of the word "base".

Bases have a high pH and can contain a hydroxide ion. Detergents... soaps... those are bases.

What sticks out to me here is that BASES can be CATALYSTS. They are also used to neutralize acids.

I wish I could be more help.

I like the idea of "base" referring to a mathematical base much more than I do the idea of it referring to a chemical base.

I'll think about it a bit - it definitely sounds like he's trying to draw our attention to that word.

What about DNA i.e. "base pair", or "Nucleobase"?

Blahblablee came up with these references:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_pair

You made a wise choice, Bree.

Could be, but we've been keeping our eyes open for DNA sequences for all this time, so it wouldn't really give us anything else to go on.

lol wrong link there lum

think you meant

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/nucleobase

also this was brought up by lum

There is some text that isn't in the first post above the second paragraph to the right on the front of the index card...

We either need to call Dan the fireman up and yell at him :lol:

Or

Try to sharpen it with photoshop or something (which i have tried and failed to do)
