last time we were given something like this (where the numbers didn't match up the way they were supposed to), we were supposed to use the incorrect numbers to solve the puzzle. Maybe that's the case here as well.
All this is assuming that there even is a puzzle, of course.
Yeah, Lurker, maybe the difference between the actual height of Olympus Mons and Jonas' stated height is just an error. I could be jumping the gun by saying it's a puzzle.
EDIT: I'm gonna keep working on it though. If I do come up with an answer, you guys will find it in the In Character chat area in a message directed to Lucy.

Mojave desert is 1500 miles from Zavalla, TX
Which part of the Mojave Desert? It's like, 22,000 square miles and occupies Parts of California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. If you've never had the pleasure of driving through it, you might not understand.

to be a little more specific, I mapped generically from Mojave National Preserve to Zavalla, TX. The distance was 1,507 miles.
Watching the videos of Jonas and Daniel running it looked like they were in the desert.
{And no, I've never been to the west coast, much less driven through the desert. I like the East Coast. Although I think I'm going to have to travel to San Diego for work. ::sigh::}

Mt. Whitney, CA is not 14,000 feet in elevation; it is 14,505 feet.
Mt. Everest is not 29,000 feet in elevation; it is 29,028 feet.
Olympus Mons is not 78,000 feet in elevation; it is 88,585 feet.
The first two examples could just be rounded-figures, but the third? He's off by more than 10,000 feet.
Apo.
I'm always glad when someone is checking on these, but in this case, I think it might not be a deliberate error. The height of Olympus Mons is estimated--no one has seen it, obviously, and the rovers have never gotten near it. Also, it depends which part of this massive feature you are measuring.
No less a source than the Encyclopedia Brittanica says that it is 13 miles high--about 68,000 - 69,000 feet. (See
http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-90 ... ympus-Mons)
There are many different heights quoted for Olympus Mons on the web.
I am not saying that this video did not contain a message or a puzzle; however, I don't know that in necessarily hinges on our boy Jonas using round or estimated figures.

If there was a puzzle, what is Jonas trying to convey? It's not like he needs to tell Bree where they are.
Anyway, I have a few theories:
- A My Life For Theirs/Hers sort of thing. There's no way Bree would do the ceremony just to get it all over with. So, methinks she's doing it to spare Daniel, Jonas, and Julia some horrible fate.
- This is some remnant of the Psychological Torture. Bree was told to do the ceremony, Jonas was told to focus on his parents. I leave Daniel out because I think he was the most resistant to the brainwashing: he was the one we saw escape. We saw Jonas getting frustrated with the whole shebang, and focus on his parents. Now we're seeing Bree as more willing to do the ceremony.
Or, I could be wrong on both counts. If only we could hear what they said. Hmmm.

maybe the difference between what was said by jonas and the actual makes a phone number??
505 feet
28 feet
10,585 feet
=
(505) 281-0585

I did a search on that phone number - do we know a P. Rimmer? Either way, it's in New Mexico, which hasn't been referenced anywhere in LG15.
Again, if it were a puzzle, what would he be trying to say? If anyone would be sending a puzzle, it would be Bree.

This is a good point. There's really nothing Jonas could be trying to communicate to her, and if he were trying to talk to Sarah and Taylor, he could just go see them.
