Just a reminder: There's now two threads that will have video discussions: New Releases and In-Depth Discussion. Everything is named according to video. It's really not difficult.
BK, it's really hard for me to get behind you on this issue, when every time a fan gives you genuine feedback about not liking the way the new section is organized, you tell them they're wrong.

What I would like instead would be a thread where fanfic fans and creators can discuss how we would like the section organized. But I hesitate to start such a thread, because I have no reason to believe it will be heard.

Edited to add: And if you want to just discuss videos, you only have one thread to look in: New Releases. That makes it even simpler! :)
And if you miss part of a discussion in one of the threads, and make a comment that's already been made, you are likely to get "oh, but I already said that somewhere! Don't you read the other thread?".

I don't want to slag through everything looking for the one thread that I might want to read. No, it's not "difficult", just time consuming and slightly annoying, IMHO.

But it's a mute point, as I've already decided to just start avoiding that area all together.

Rather, I'm trying to clear up what these threads are for. We've seen a lot of comments about people having to look all over the place, when the reality is it's quite organized. It may not be organized the way some folks want, and I understand. My point is, content isn't all over the place. It may appear that way at first glance, so I'm trying to be clear about the purpose of the threads. My attempt at clarifying isn't to say anyone's wrong.

With LG15 videos, we have a video discussion thread and a plot discussion thread. Most of the pertinent discussion is split between those two areas (with some specific spill-over into other forums). It's worked quite well, and I think the fan video discussion can work in this structure equally well.

Not sure if this applies to the fan fiction area any more than any other area. You'll always find some folks who say that, but most folks are quite nice and patient! :)

I understand, and I'm sorry you feel that way.

It's not really my point ;) But I do agree with silvermoon and others... No, the new fanfic section isn't difficult to understand. It's a PITA to have to read one section, back out to the main index, go into the next, etc... Difficult, no. But not the best designed interface to get the fans interacting more...

For the most part, yes, they are nice and patient. But the fanfic area is not as prolific as the rest of the lg15 area. If you miss a post in the vast area of the regular topics, well...it's understandable.

If you miss a comment about a subject that only 10-15 people are involved in, you just look like you aren't even trying. By the time you go from one area to the other to make sure you aren't repeating something, the convo has moved on and you are forever lost.

I just think one area for each of the frequently visited subjects (HSA, itscassie, Niki B., etc) would be simpler to deal with.

Again, just stating my own opinion. I'm sure there are plenty of people that are happy with the new arangement.

The restructuring of this area is superior to the way it was previously structured. It is never going to be perfect.

Having said that, I also believe there are still some tweaks to be performed. Given the limitations of the software being used for this forum, I think it would be prudent to allow any active fan-fic ARG to have a thread dedicated to it. Unless I am mistaken, these would be HSA and FacilityJ.

As The Creators have recently indicated that they are working toward updating the software for the site sometime later this year, allowing active fan-fic ARGs to have their own threads would seem to be an effective stop-gap measure.

Seconded. Or probably more like tenthed, I guess.

Just posting here out of frustration, just saw these new fan fic videos by maddison Atkins
very good vids, ...clues , foreshadowing, intriguing characters, humor, puzzles to be solved....
so I went to in depth discussion and I can't find anything
go back to new releases ,I saw threads for the videos, but they seemed short and I thought they were just announcing release there, hmm.
should I just look for info there? It seems like there should be more in in-depth, but I don't see anything in that section right now....sigh.

oh maybe I am supposed to read the LGpedia? not for somethign this new. ? I don't know.

and so I am tired, so I am temporarily giving up..
I am sure I will find what I am looking for...but it seems to be taking longer than it used to...

edited to say that I found stuff in the fan fic lobby...gee
thanks to someone posting a link,,,don't know how long it would have taken me to find it there

and that I realize this is not a constructive post and I apologize.
I was just a little annoyed. i know that the fan video forum will be going through more changes. i just felt like whining. thanks .

A lot of the Maddy Atkins stuff is taking place in the FanFic Lobby under a thread discussing her MySpace.

This is exactly what's wrong with the new layout. It makes it harder to follow a new fanfic ARG when all the related posts aren't in one place...

alright...soo...

one of my off the cuff videos just got moved to the fanfic lobby. I appreciate the idea...

but in all honesty (and I was 100% for the fanfic section until yesterday), it sseems completely and utterly disorginized and random now. I'm looking through it, and there are things in places that just in plain don't make sense. ARG material in the lobby, indepth discussion in New Releases....

its too many forums in one section to keep everything orginized. It's confusing to everyone, and i think i'm right in saying, it's confusing to some of the mods as well. there is just too many places to put things. I really think new releases and indepth should be combined into a "Fan Character Videos" section.

I hadn't really spent much time in fanfic until recently...and even then it wasn't until yesterday that the fanfic I'm interested in had a video, so I couldnt' really relate until then. Now, I see the argument clearly...it's very confusing. I have to agree.

I haven't seen the Madison videos, but I got the impression that they were not LG15-related. All non-LG15-related videos and discussion would happen in the lobby (like Kelly's Hyper video). If it's LG15-related, the video discussion would be in New Releases and the in-depth discussion would be in In-Depth Discussion.

With the changes to OpAphid's status, it opens up the door for more exposure to ARGs created by fans. However, rather than have one catch-all ARG forum (which would result in a mess of threads about videos that aren't ARGs and could result in videos getting missed, much like the old structure), I'd rather see individual forums for the most active ARGs (of which, right now, it seems is only Facility J). I'll be looking into this and trying to get input from the Facility J PM (if possible) before making this move.
