Her lazy eye would've forecasted this characteristic at birth. It's possible that the Monkey-Basket test she went through was either irrelevant to her eye and coincidentally cured it, or her anti-Order father did it secretly to protect her. Then, by puberty, she was showing antisociality (my word) by hanging out with Cassie and being outcasted in school.

Let me explain what I mean by “Biologically Reproduced via Embryonic Engineering”:
I think it’s entirely possible that the egg Bree sprouted from was genetically altered with the DNA of some historically important genealogical line. She’s a genetically modified clone. This would also explain why females are so significant to the process, the Order and the ceremony – there technically is no father (and no Y chromosome), so all “Bree-like” creations could only be female.

I'm down with that..I just hope this doesn't get too sci-fi. I'm already pushing the limits of my own geekiness being involved with this as it is.

Definately. I agree with this completely.

There wasn't a specific characteristic like color of eyes, hair or special skill...it was something in her DNA that made her special.

But, from where do they acquire these girls?
Are they born into the order by other members?
Are they stolen?
