Flautapantera wrote:Wow, so the sky is black because of a chemical plant explosion. The plant isn't so far away from me and the lights flickered during the initial explosion. They closed a bunch of bridges crossing the river...luckily I evaded it. Supposedly there's chemical ash raining from the sky. I'd rather not go outside and take a look.

Reminds me of Silent Hill.
GO TO THE CHURCH WHEN IT GETS DARK!

Yeah, I guess there were only 9 guys there but no fatalities as of yet. I called my father, who teaches at a med school, and he's on call now (as is the rest of the med center) in case of emergency.
It's funny - one news station had a 2 by 3 inch chunk of ash that had fallen from the sky and they were poking and proding it on the desk talking about it. And then the Hazmat people call and tell them not to touch it because it's CHEMICAL ash. Heh, the other rival news station was taking jabs at them.

Good to hear. Happened to Pfizer here in Groton a couple years ago and we could feel it on the other side (Pfizer New London, which was the "executive" side).

Ha! Now they're showing people from surrounding cities in Kansas and Missouri who drove down to WATCH the fire and explosions.
Quotes: "It's craaazy."
Interviewee: "It's exciting."
Reporter [muttering]: "Probably not very exciting for the people who live down there."
Society today. SHEESH.
EDIT: Oh yeah, a lot of the people who came down are
video recording the fire. Missouri/Kansas must be worse off than I originally thought.

That's really freaking stupid. Exciting? First of all--it's dangerous. People got hurt, people could still get hurt. Not exciting. Second of all, say it wasn't potentially hazardous. A chemical fire, exciting? These people obviously don't out much.
"Hey Doris, pack up the kids and I'll go start the car--we're goin to see a chemical fire! Woot!"

I wouldn't suggest eating cookies as a remedy for your yucky tummy. They don't cure headaches either.
