No, no...I really think it's interesting. I'm still mulling.

Hm, that's really interesting-- while I definitely think it's possible that Daniel was questionable from the beginning (potentially being the reason Bree's parents told her to stay with him) I'd never thought of it in terms of a sleeping "other" self.Languorous Lass wrote:
Second theory, which I like much better: that the main personality, Daniel, who loves Bree and wants to take care of her, would never voluntarily spill information about her, even under torture. So the DannyB alter, who's been hiding right there in Daniel's body for every development in the series, would be triggered to provide that information to the Order.
IAE, I don't think that either the main "Daniel" personality or the alter "DannyB" needs to know anything about the Order itself in order to be useful. He (or the plural "hes"?) just needs (need?) to have Bree's trust, so he can keep an eye on her and learn whatever information he can, about her, what she's doing, and what she knows about the Order.
To answer your final question: remember, Daniel is the one who approached Bree and invited her to sit at his table at school. The Order could very easily have programmed him to issue that invitation.
maybe she cleaned the bowl with green/blue toilet cleaner.nobackspacebutton wrote:Usually spin programming isn't just based on a spin, but on imagery of a sort...like colors.DDeiDoll wrote:This might be completely stupid...probably is, but what the heck here i go...This whole spin thing is really interesting, now remember in purple monkey returns how the toliet seat was up, well im wondering, maybe this has something to do with this spin programing (i went and watched my toliet and it is very spinny, she locked her self in there maybe to make her self not be emotional so she watched the potty, probably not but im putting it out there cause maybe someone smarter then me will have something to say, so.... im probably just crazy
um, uh, i had that kind of theory too. cept before the spinart; my theory was he was a watcher-type person kinda "destined" to be with Bree.silvermoon wrote: Could the spin art be Daniel's trigger? Perhaps he had been programmed at an early age? We've never seen his parents, nor do we know much about them. Maybe they are part of the Order and have just kept Daniel out of it except for the parts he can't remember during programming. Maybe this is why they don't seem to have a problem with him running off with Bree -- it's what he's been supposed to do since the beginning.![]()
could be Daniel was a plan B. Personalities change in time, so could it have been that Daniel, as a teen, had a gangsta surfer personality? this guy i knew was all hard rock and badass two years before I knew him, and by the time I knew him, he was a mild-mannered compy geek.Lurker wrote:I can see how this might make sense, but there's a few things about it that I have to ask. If Daniel has been programmed with an alternate personality for the spin art to trigger, why did they not have him activated all along (either from childhood or from when he went to Bree's camp a couple years ago, whenever this programming would have happened)?
Next, if he got hypnotized at Bree's camp two summers ago, I can't see why it would make sense to go to the trouble of creating this personality for him if they were just going to leave it off, and it also doesn't really seem to fit since "Daniel" in "Miss Me?" doesn't seem to know anything more about Bree's religion than Daniel ever did before. He still refers to it as "the religion you [Bree] were into," not "my religion," so they didn't create a Order-dedicated Daniel who got to learn anything at the summer camp that was focused on learning about the religion. The most he seems to know is that they have pizza, ice cream, and spin art.
On the idea that he might have been an OpAphid baby, for what reason would they have ever needed to create an ignorant personality for him if his original personality was interested in the religion? As an OpAphid baby, it's to be expected that he would have been like Bree. Children who get indoctrinated in a religion from day one tend to believe in it, especially when they're kept away from learning about anything else (again, like Bree)? Which would also bring up the question of why Daniel would have ever been allowed the freedom he's gotten to learn about anything else.
I also have to wonder why they would have never just "activated" him when he started making trouble for them months ago.
Finally (this last question is to silvermoon), even with Bree and Daniel going to the same school, how would the Order have ever known that they would actually end up becoming friends?
Yep, I've been saying something similar for months. Well, that's been one of my theories.Nieriel.Manwathiel wrote:um, uh, i had that kind of theory too. cept before the spinart; my theory was he was a watcher-type person kinda "destined" to be with Bree.silvermoon wrote: Could the spin art be Daniel's trigger? Makes me wonder about the "watchers". It seems that they only "watch". Perhaps Daniel's parents were "watchers"...and you're right, Daniel was destined to 'watch' over Bree.Nieriel.Manwathiel wrote:um, uh, i had that kind of theory too. cept before the spinart; my theory was he was a watcher-type person kinda "destined" to be with Bree.silvermoon wrote: Could the spin art be Daniel's trigger? Bree has known Daniel for several years, so that theory doesn't seem likely.Nieriel.Manwathiel wrote: Personalities change in time, so could it have been that Daniel, as a teen, had a gangsta surfer personality? this guy i knew was all hard rock and badass two years before I knew him, and by the time I knew him, he was a mild-mannered compy geek.
in other words, Daniel in "miss me" could have been an old personality.
Hm. That would expand the definition of "Watcher" (well, at least it would expand the way I've been thinking about Watchers). Interesting theory.nobackspacebutton wrote:Makes me wonder about the "watchers". It seems that they only "watch".
