Because I think its really sexist and a demonstration of how patriarchal our society is that children just AUTOMATICALLY get their fathers last name. So I want a hyphenated last name.

that's why i have 2 names of my own, the last two from my mom and the last two from my dad.

I know lots of woman who kept their maiden name when they got married, and lots of people who have their mother's last name instead of their father's.

yeah, the usual in the US is 3, here in portugal is 4, but just because i'm great, i received 6.
