Which convo? We were talking about making a party thread soundtrack and how odd and eclectic it would be.

That is a crazy lyric! If we're inputting songs, definitely add "Pampleteer" by The Weakerthans to the soundtrack. I love it and I know BK enjoys the lyrics:
How I don't know what I should do with my hands when I talk to you.
How you don't know where you should look, so you look at my hands.
How movements rise and then dissolve, melted by our shallow breath.
I knew you'd appreciate the groupie lovin' song ;) My favorite line: "You can come into my house she said, if you do it quietly. But I said there ain't no chance in that."

I don't know, is that a depressing song? No depressing songs!

Oh yeah, and that BTE lyric about "the face you make" is kind quiet, almost a background deal that crescendos up, and it took me a few times listening to it to figure out that's what it said. Needless to say, now when I sing it I fricken YELL that line! :D

Hee, which is why it's a great song! :)

Have you listened to it? Go here and listen to it. *sigh* One of my favorite songs. I have a few other songs I want you to listen to when you're done with The Weakerthans.

Here are the full lyrics:

I'm standing on this corner.
Can't get their attention.
Facing rush hour faces turned around.
I clutch my stack of paper, press one to a chest,
then watch it swoop and stutter to the ground.
I'm weary with right-angles, abbreviated daylight,
and waiting for a winter to be done.
Why do I still see you in every mirrored window,
in all that I could never overcome?
How I don't know what I should do with my hands when I talk to you.
How you don't know where you should look, so you look at my hands.
How movements rise and then dissolve, melted by our shallow breath.
How causes dance away from me.
I am your pamphleteer.
I walk this room in time to the beat of the Gestetner,
contemplate my next communique.
The rhetoric and treason of saying that I'll miss you.
Of saying "Hey, well maybe you should stay."
Sing "Oh what force on earth could be weaker than the feeble strength of one"
like me remembering the way it could have been.
Help me with this barricade.
No surrender. No defeat.
A spectre's haunting Albert Street.
I am your pamphleteer.

I think I have to get used to his voice and figure out if I like it. That's a big part of how I pick bands I like is their lead vocals and any harmonizing.

I understand. Whenever I'm listening to a new song, I like to have the lyrics up so I can follow along. The tune and melody are one thing but the words are vastly important, at least to me.

I agree. I have friends that say they know I'll like a song if it has "big words." :P

You like songs with big words? :D That's great. It is much more enjoyable when a song doesn't solely consist of "baby" "love" "cat" and "you."

My ex did. They were okay, but not something I'd listen to on my own (partially because now they're associated with him in my mind.)

that's horrible :( well they had some nice songs, the lyrics are very poetic and not the usual examples of weak lyrics (like the examples of that FP was showing about the "baby" " love" etc)

umm John Mayer?
