It's only when they're going to posit an observation or theory 20 pages in with the assumption that no one else noticed or considered it that I think it's reasonable to expect they read everything. Anything else would seem like pretending the thread didn't start until you posted.
I've noticed that some people will post what they thought of the video, and then say they're going to go back and read everything that's been said before doing anything else. That seems like a perfectly considerate and reasonable approach.
Consideration for others is a good thing, even on this forum.
