No, they're chosen by the Creators based on who gives them money to advertise on the site.
Are they? I assumed it was decided by the people at Revver who approve the videos. That's what their website's FAQ suggests anyway. Do the Creators have a special agreement or something?

I believe the Creators have a revenue agreement with Revver in exchange for posting to Revver before YouTube - but I'm not aware of any special agreement regarding what ad is tacked onto the end. I'm pretty sure it's a Revver decision.

Yeah the reference to a playing card being a trigger was a reference to Manchurian Candidate, I believe. We don't know yet if Daniel is still brainwashed or has a trigger. We'll have to see where the Creators go with that one, if they decide to.

Ok, well I guess it's just a coincidence that the cards were specifically drawn attention to, and that this is an ad at the end of the video for that specific brand of cards. Forgive me, my bad.

The card thing might not be a coincidence, it might have been some sort of movie reference the Creators slipped in that does have relevance to the story. We just won't know til they drop us some more clues.

Just like the whole "Jonas is no more part of the Order than I am"

I can't figure out if they threw that in there like they did the slurpie reference since they've read its a big theory that Daniel is brainwashed on the boards, or if they're actually planning on going that way with Daniels character.

The ad is really not a coincidence in the sense that a Revver rep specifically selects the ad that they feel ties best to the video. That being said, it's possible that the cards were placed by the Creators specifically to influence Revvers choice of ad placement. I'd prefer to think it's story related but you never know.

I'm hoping it's story-related - lots of interesting possible reasons for Jonas to be carrying a deck of cards.

It seems like a bit of a stretch for it to be product placement. The cards in the video are Bicycle, and the ad is for Hoyle card game software. It seems more likely to be just some geek at Revver noticing cards in the video and picking a card-related ad from a list.

I definitely think this seemed significant.
It's like Daniel was thinking "Crap, he took the camera? *checks bag* PHEW! At least he left the playing cards!"
What do they need those cards for?

What makes anyone think that was Jonas's bag? Remember, the last person who we saw in the car was Daniel. If Daniel only looked in one pocket of the bag, it would make the most sense for the bag to be Daniel's, and for him to check the pocket where he knew he left the car keys last.

Whoever uploaded the transcript of this vid to the LGPedia thought the bag was Daniel's too.

Danny was looking for the keys when he checked the backpack, though, wasn't he? That was also before Bree said the other camera was gone.

Again, the transcript indicates that Daniel was looking for the keys when he checked the bag -- or at least that he checks the bag and immediately says that the keys are gone. Using inductive reasoning, I'd conclude that he was looking in the bag for the keys. The cards Just Happened To Be on top.

(That last line was intended to be ironic, BTW. I think it's pretty clear that the cards will end up being significant at some point down the line.)

I have to say, though, Lurker, that I'd prefer not to refer to Daniel as "Danny" unless we know he's in his alternate, pimpish, "Ali G/Danny B" persona.

Yeah, that'd probably be for the best. I just felt like changing it up.

Understandable.
