Maybe Trainer (or someone else) can construct a list of all the videos where a helicopter is either shown or heard? Maybe then we should discuss its relevance...it might be easier to look at all the facts together than just speculate.

Your wish is my command.

* In “Fleeing the Watcher” the screen goes black after they run to the car. In the very next scene they zoom in on a helicopter in flight – emphasizing the point. A similar technique is used in other videos. The Creators use certain techniques to go out of their way to point some things out – like the use of a star filter in a few of the sun shots.

* One of the tags on the "Fleeing the Watcher" video on YouTube is "helicopter".

* In “Thanksgiving” Bree is sitting in the car talking to the camera.
Bree: “I don’t know where my parents are and sometimes I... [dramatic pause, followed by the loud helicopter sound] I just feel so helpless….” (If you watch carefully, you’ll see that the scene was not seamless – it was apparently edited to emphasize the helicopter sound)

* In "Breaking and Entering" there's a quick shot of a helicopter just after Daniel eludes the car patroling the parking lot.

* In "Bree's Dad Is Dead" there's another helicopter shot while they are on the beach.

Sometimes the clues are subtle - Sometimes not so subtle. But none should be discarded or ignored. How many more helicopters do we need to see before we agree that they are not random?

My interpretation? The creators have gone out of their way to point out the helicopters. Kind of like the "black helicopter" stories. They signify the omnipotence of the Order and the concept that every level of society has been infiltrated. There is no place to hide.

thanks trainer - agreed that there is relevance in the helicoptors...it is quite clear that they are there for a purpose and not random.

btw...love your interpretation...

I completely agree with Trainer 101's theory as to what the helicopters represent. The Order does indeed seem to be a pretty big organization. Helicopters are not only expensive to purchase, they are expensive to operate.

They also are a representation of a far-reaching power and are especially viewed that way in the LA area, where the police use them extensively.

But I am still confused as to why Daniel and Bree do not comment on the helicopter sightings they themselves put in their own videos. Don't ya think that if they shot the video and then left it in the edit that they would at least mention it?

Keeping it real...

maybe they are half in denial about it..like the know they're there and that it's probabbly the order but they don't really want to think about it. It's sort of cool, becuase they're re-presented them to us in the same way they exist in their lives. They're there, we see them..but nothing has been spelled out about them.

That is the best explanation so far, I like it even if it is just fanwanking because it is at least a plausible scenario. Good one :!:

This doesn't really have much to do with anything but....

A while ago(a REALLY LONG TIME AGO) I thought that lG15 might have some link to the game Deus Ex (such as a Viral Campaign or something) when I was bored and searched "The Order" on wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Order
-The Order (Deus Ex), a fictional pseudo-religious organization in the computer game Deus Ex: Invisible War.

And now in that article about the helicopters:
-In the computer game Deus Ex, the protagonist travels in the fictional SH-187, a sleek high-performance black helicopter with stealth technology, there are also mentions of mysterious black helicopters in news papers you can find throughout the game.

This is just a coincidence but I find it kinda funny...

And once again note A LONG TIME AGO....

Cool coincidence, though :) . By the way, if Jonas is so rich, why doesn't he buy a gun that can fire tracers, and fire one at a helicopter as it passes by? Yeah, it wouldn't be easy, but it would be worth a shot (no pun intended). Of course, at least two things could happen:

1. The helicopter fires back, but with bullets

2. The helicopter crashes into a cliff face or the Pacific Ocean and destroys the tracer

Either way, the tracer-firing would be a bad idea. Still, it's nice to eliminate possibilities, right? And that's if Jonas and the gang get caught. If not, it would be worthwhile, and would help them locate the Order. And it's about time that they stop running, what with people dying and all (Bree's dad, and perhaps Gemma).

many famous, and excellent directors reuse images to add symbolism and depth to their work......(watch any kurasawa for instance)

the helicopters could just be the Creators adding an artistic element to their story

I don't know where else in the LG15 series we see the other helicopters.....but if we consistently see them when Bree is sad/alone/depressed.....then it's probably an artistic element.
We actually did something at school like this. We were watching Bend It Like Beckham and we had to analyse the film techniques. There were a lot of planes in the movie and we had to analyse what they meant.

We basically said that it was hinting towards travel, freedom, doing something new. If we looked at the helicopter and analysed it in the same way, basically it would seem to me to be something that while showing travel, it also hints toward being in hiding, war, searching for something.

So while I don't think it's directly related to Bree, I do think it is a recurring theme as a way to show that Bree is running and something is following.
