You sound as if you knew which side I was on at one point.

I've been straddling the fence since I got the phone call. :-\ Op placed me on Tachyon's side, and the more I think, the more I want to be there!

BTW, if the drops come to SoCal again, I'll be going. Since this is a very very popular fictional blog, I think some people can expect that drops will be hitting other states.

I am in NJ, so it probably doesn't matter how you do it, chances are that I won't be able to do anything about drops, anyway.

I do think it is unfair to exclude the newer people just because they are new. Plus, I think you aren't giving them enough credit that they might actually, once they get the hang of this, get their first anyway. Woudn't you rather have a bunch of people who you included searching for the drops, instead of a bunch of people who've been basically shunned and maybe saying "Why should I share? They didn't?"

Someday one of the drops might actually end up in Jersey (OK, I doubt it, but maybe!) and, ohhhh, then everyone will be searching for silvermoon to go looking for that drop, won't they? Yep, yep.

My point is, everyone was new to OpAphid at one point, and you all got it together. All we are asking for is a chance to do the same and participate/help in whatever way we can.

Why I think the drops will stay in California:

1) The PM that were running OpAphid still are, and they are based out of LA. It would be extremely difficult for them to branch this out into other states. Add to that the fact that LG15 isnt overflowing with cash, so they can't do much to assist.

2) Its their backyard. The past 3 drops have come and gone without any problems (save the hat issue). They know that we can cover the entire state, and its easy for them to place items and keep watch on them.

3) Unless Bree, Daniel, Brother or Tachyon decide to head toward the east coast for some reason, their stories are based in California. If Bree and Daniel are in San Diego, Bakersfield, etc then Brother and Tachyon will be in the same area. Which means the drops will be in the same area.

So worldwide cooperation and decyphering will come, but until the story relocates I doubt the drop will. Don't mean to rain on anyone's parade :(

hmmm...how about this...

I declare, with no factual basis, that every state and country with recieve the same drop, and will have to race to decypher it first. The state/country with the most wins at the end of the game gets to have pizza and ice cream with OpAphid and Tachyon.

Sunny yet?

I really, really like the idea of group drop retrievals for two reasons:

1) It's safer. Hands down. Whether it's crawling around behind a deserted windmill at midnight or just driving for two hours at 3:00am, it's safer to have multiple people on the drops.

2) The videos are better. With the one-person drop, we inevitably get video footage at weird angles, with the cameraperson's hand intruding at strange times. When there's more than one person, the videos make a lot more sense to people who weren't there. :) It's a selfish reason to prefer group drops, but there it is.

I think we should encourage anybody who wants to to go pick up drops, regardless of how long they've been playing ARGs in general, or this ARG specifically. Likewise, I think anyone considering going out on a drop should familiarize themselves with the SOP for drop retrieval, including the conventions about sharing and notifying other people if you're going. I don't really forsee any problems with this.

One more note on drops: if you intend to go to one, PLEASE make sure that someone has your cell phone number BEFORE you go, so that if you get eaten by a leopleurodon, you'll be able to call us from inside and let us know. It's terribly frustrating to be waiting on a drop and not know where the retrieval team is because no one thought to share contact information. Thanks!
