Eddie Izzard.
Apparenlty doing an impression of that, funny face and all, makes drunk people fall off their chairs laughing. It's a gift.

Drunken Izzard quoting tends to do that.

It's always great to tell a lot of his jokes, then have people ask to borrow the tape, and forget to tell them about how he dresses. The reactions range from highly amused to angry (angry more the conservative people.... yes, I did give it to my grandmother to watch!)

I'm reading This Side of Paradise at the moment, and these are a few of my favorite quotes thus far:

"It's just--us. We're pitiful, that's all. The very qualities I love you for are the ones that will always make you a failure."

And

All life was transmitted into terms of their love, all experience, all desires, all ambitions, were nullified--their senses of humor crawled into corners to sleep; their former love-affairs seemed faintly laughable and scarcely regretted juvenalia.

Thank you, Mr. Fitzgerald.

And just in case you wanted more:

Experience is the name so many people give to their mistakes.

--Oscar Wilde

Who who sleeps with the wise gets satisfied, but a companion of fools finishes first.
