OK, one last quibble by a biology idiot. Why would Spencer have to recreate the entire complimentary Ribozyme? Couldn't he just make a virus of some sort that will switch the uncomplimentary (downright rude!) bits? There's be less for the vaccine--or whatever--to do so it could do it faster and longer, requiring fewer boosters and less processing.

Don't laugh too hard when you guys read this. You'll be old and forgetful someday and you'll know nothing about the fine points of nano-transistors or crystal memory.

What you're describing is basically gene therapy. Gene therapy would cure tons of (real-life) diseases, but it's many years away from being practically feasible.

Injecting the complementary strand is much more realistic of a treatment.

It is quite strange - but was that not what our friends were already supposed to do;-)?
