Well... We read Flowers for Algernon (the novel) by Daniel Keyes in English class a few months ago, and it was spectacular. Like, shockingly good.
Hm... Other than that. King of Torts by John Grisham. And, er... Angels and Demons, by that poor researcher Dan Brown.
And no, they're not 'books,' but the manga series Death Note is pretty good.
