You can see just a little bit of the note in Charlie's hand but this screen cap is from after he put it on the birds leg and just before Claire lets it go. I think it's an editing mistake.martha wrote:

Oh it was SO Wednesday. Lost has ever slowly been coming back to, if not it's original awesomeness, then damn close. Last night was a great episode--Terry O' Quinn knows how to act, fer sure. The only part that I was confused on/didn't much care for was the whole damn magic box deal. WTF? 'Tho if it made his daddy appear I suppose it takes "Dick In a Box" to a whole new level.

It really was. I enjoyed so many aspects--the Benry/Locke exchanges were really funny. Also was so glad that Alex finally heard about her mother--sometimes the information exchange between people on this show fustrates me to no end! So it was nice for Sayid to be all, "Oh I'm sure they TOLD you she was dead, but she's not" (paraphrase). Way to bring on the snark! Very interesting about Jack---the whole "I was gonna leave, but I would have come back, honest" thing seems shady to me. I mean, maybe he does think that he's gonna be the big ol' saviour and send rescue ships, but Jack's not (that) stupid, is he? Does he really think Ben would just let him leave knowing that his intention is to send people back to save everyone on the island?
Which brings me to Ben. I heart him!! He's such a great villain--sarcastic, funny, creepy, yet genial and polite.
I've got a theory about Locke Daddy:

And what about the previews for next week? Someone's gonna kick the bucket---is this just one of those over hyped warnings (ala Doc Artz) about a redshirt getting it, or do we have a possible (DUN DUN DUN) Charlie death on the horizon?!I think he's the real Sawyer--you know, the con that shot his mom.

I loved last night's episode! I have to admit that the first half of this season was disappointing to me, but ever since "Flashes Before Your Eyes" I'd say things have been going steadily uphill.
I also thought the interactions between Kate and Jack were cute. And Sayid telling Alex about her mother. Danielle obviously won't take the initiative, so I think it's Alex's turn to step up to the plate and start asking questions about her mother dearest.
Ben is scaring me more and more lately. He obviously knows much, much more than he lets on, and he's able to manipulate people into doing whatever he wants them to. But the whole thing about how Locke isn't in a wheelchair anymore (the island healed him), and Ben still being in a wheelchair...I think that was the first time we got to see Ben doubting himself. And I liked it!

I have to a say it - I loved this episode. It's probably one of my favorites which is no great feat since Locke and Ben are two of my favorite characters. Terry O'Quinn did a fantastic job (I especially loved the "You're not going to talk about the box again are you?" scene).
Also, I think you're on to something Mirage. That would definitely fit the character connections theme and also Locke Daddy fits the M.O. perfectly. Good call!

Im a sad bunni.
Sweetie you can go onto the ABC website and watch the episode there. My mom fell asleep and missed last night as well, and that's what she did. However, I don't know how long it stays up for...
Welcome to the discussion! Ever since I saw that smokin' avie I hoped we'd get to see you in here.PolkadotConfederation wrote:I loved last night's episode! I can't wait to see if/when she asks Ben about Danielle! That will be interesting to see how he responds.thought the interactions between Kate and Jack were cute. Word. I cannot stop expressing my love for Michael Emerson or the job he's doing playing Ben. It would have been so easy for the writers/actors to go down the stereotypical "evil villain" route but Benry still has such a humanity about him it's just really fun to watch. That's why I think it'll be really telling about in which direction his character is going to go with the whole Alex/Danielle situation. Does she even know Danielle is alive? And will he admit it to Alex? On one hand, he admits it--this option seems to be a more singular, fatherly thing to do and one that "Ben" would make instead of "Ben, leader of the Others". Him I would expect to lie about it. Then again, like I said, does he even realize Rousseau is alive? And when/if Alex tells him, will he be shocked, pretend to be shocked, or deny the whole thing? Please please please PTB do not let this story fall to the wayside.Ben is scaring me more and more lately. He obviously knows much, much more than he lets on, and he's able to manipulate people into doing whatever he wants them to. Someone was saying on another board that this would definately be an episode that TO'Q should send in for an Emmy consideration. It was really striking, because Island Locke has been getting on my nerves for a little while now (seemed to be loosing his S1 island sage/hunter appeal), but Pre-Island Locke absolutely broke my heart. I agree with all the Ben/Locke love--they have wonderful chemistry together.djmadscribbler wrote:I have to a say it - I loved this episode. was thrown into the conversation several times.con
Oh, Leaven:
Step One--cut a hole in the box
Step Two--put Locke's daddy into the box
Step Three--have Locke open the box.

Edit: D'oh, I completely forgot to mention this--
According to THIS website,
1) The dude pushing Ben in the wheelchair was the same guy who was trying to hire Juliette.
2) The whiskey that LockeDaddy offered Locke was McMacCutcheon Whiskey..the same whiskey that Charles Widmore was drinking, and the same one that appeared in Saywers stash that Desmond drank with Charlie.
Second Edit: W..T...F....please disregard all the does he (Ben) even realize Rousseau is alive, cause, after all, he WAS stuck up in her net. Welcome to the dumb ass Mirage show!

Don't be to tough on yourself Mirage - it is hard to keep up with all the open lines this show has. I know I do it all the time!Mirage wrote:

Thanks for the link - I thought that was the same guy but seeing the two pics really drives it home. And Speaking of Rousseau - I think she knows more that she lets on. In fact, what if that whole story about her ship and the science stuff was all bull? What if she worked for them (like the Eye Patch Guy)? Maybe she had a thing with Ben (which really would make him Alex's daddy) but then they had some falling out. So instead of getting her dead, he just banished to the other parts of the island. Pure speculation of course, but seeing as I think Rousseau
1. lies (or at least twists the truth like a curly fry)
2. knows explosives/booby traps etc
3. was a scientist
4. knows firearms
she fits the Others mold pretty well actully.

Hee, thanks. I have troubles too (obviously). Being blonde doesn't help at all (double obviously).
Yeah, I've been thinking along those lines too, especially since they've had her join up with their little "rescue" party. She just kept dissapearing and whatnot and seems almost "eh, whatever" to the whole situation. Perhaps she disagreed with Ben and left of her own choosing? Like I said before, I wouldn't be totally shocked to see a brand on her (like Juliette's)--like you said, Ben banishing her. Thing is, would it really be enough to make her leave her daughter in his/their care? I mean, she wanted to get her back pretty badly--so badly in fact that she attempted to steal Aaron on season 1. Whatever her connection is, I believe it's definately more than she's letting on. Then again, she also seems a few beans short of a full burrito...maybe she had to go into the Clockwork Orange room like Carl (Karl?) and it left her more than worse for the wear.s for the link - I thought that was the same guy but seeing the two pics really drives it home. thanks to my love miragey... I got to see the episode. Me and the mister propped up the laptop during dinner and watched it.
GREAT EPISODE! OMG It made me an even bigger fan of Locke. The part where he started crying in the wheel chair made me cry (also when danielle saw alex, i got tears in my eyes there too) I gasped when he fell out the window and smiled continuously at the stuff he said.
I said OMG out loud like a million times during the episode.
The look on Jacks face when the sub blew up was C L A S S I C.
Okay so Im not a big fan of jack, but when he whispered to kate that he would come back for her, it gave me goosebumps.
The ending was the biggest OMG moment. Lockedaddy FTW (or rather FTL cuz he' s a meanie)
Btw, who the heck is mr. tallahassee?
Ben and Locke = great episode
*bunni is happy now
I didnt get to see the previews for next week tho. But im still content. thanks again miragey. I wuv you for being my Lost hero.

Jack can be such a douchebag, but I doubt they will ever kill him off because it is too handy to have a doc on the island.
Though I would also be a little whackadoo after wandering around the jungle alone for 16 years, I agree that there is probably more to Danielle's story. That would be awesome if we notice one of those brandings on her.
I also thought about the spoilerie bits you guys talked about. Seems to obvious a fit for it not to be right!
I'm hopinh the death this week will be one of those newbie characters. Rodrigo or the blonde (I can never remember her name).
