Maybe the Cassie People have no connection with the Lonelygirl group. Maybe they just took one mystery and blew it out into a whole new story. That would mean that the audience had taken control of the production.

it seems to hinge on finding that bag...or a new video based on some random cast member finding it

it seems as though its been way too long since these people went to find the bag. the people who volunteered were really fired up about it and went immediately after the suggestions were made, but its been hours and hours and still zero word. after all that excitment, wouldn't it follow that they would share what happened there as soon as possible?

It seems to me that all the poeple who said they were going to look for the bag were vague about its location.
