Thanks QtheC! You put a lot of work into it!

But, I think the "audio" thing might have been the volume thing he did in the reply Brooklynxman's question...
Maybe?

Jeromy, that is the DEFINITE way to encode stuff in a musical way. I just love it, and I'm pissed I didn't think of it before. Hats off man, damn, you're good.

Ok, now to transcribe all of that from the second thingy... oh I'm not spoiling it yet, Q, so keep working on it. ;)

Alright I've only done 3 lines out of about 30. You couldn't have made it a text file, of course... :smt011

Well I'm one third of the way done and going blind. But I like the answer so far. I'm not sure if you want me to explain everything yet, as you didn't explain how you got my question either. So I'll do this: I'm just going to finish this up and then go have dinner and check back to see if anyone else got it, and maybe hint about it later or just post the whole thing or just the answer... I don't know how you want this done so let me know if you had something different in mind.

Again, that system is just awesome. It even lets you choose your favorite key to play in, even minor keys would work. I'm really impressed at the simplicity and beauty of it. Oh and the video was both beautiful and funny too. Man, I can't thank you enough for this gift.

I'm working on it, but it is taking time to methodically work through. I have a couple of ideas though. Maybe I'll PM you, Deagol, if I think I have cracked it rather than spoiling things for others.

Here is what my start looks like:

Image

I reversed the entire audio from the video, then re-reversed the voice portion (now at the left side of the image) so it plays correctly. The guitar portion sounds like 26 clusters of two or three notes. (I have put boxes around them)... so I am assuming these need to decode into text or hex or ascii or something like that giving a URL possibly (where I will find the next part that Deagol is working on, I presume).

I don't think that much info. spoils anything, but if I figure out more, I'll hold off posting the solution... Deagol can have the honor since it was his Q & A. ;)

Q, you're doing great. A little bit of musical background helps a lot. If you don't know anything about scales and intervals, maybe someone else can help there. It would be great if you could upload the reversed sound somewhere. I'm about 2/3 done with the next step and then I'll take a dinner break.

Also, if you want to figure out the question I asked (I'm now ashamed of it after being completely pwnd), check my video description. It's something kinda like what Jeromy did with the guitar tabs, but adapted for a keyboard player like myself.

This is just amazing. I can't believe I got a whole puzzle done especially as a response for me. And the aesthetics of the video... I'm out of words.

Ok, I'm done. Phew!

Thanks for the great answer Jeromy, and the awesome way you delivered it. I hope you find out a way to make it work. Best of luck!

A video of the reverse of the Response18 audio playing in Audacity:

http://s68.photobucket.com/albums/i19/Q ... versed.flv

(the voice part is re-reversed at the beginning so it plays normally)

If anyone is curious how I did this, I used these programs:

Audacity 1.2.6 (freeware) audacity.sourceforge.net

Aviscreen Classic 1.3 (freeware) bobyte.com (video screen capture, Radius Cinepak Codec, 4 frames per second)

And created the video in Windows Movie maker (.mp3 from Audacity combined with .avi captured with Aviscreen)

o hell you are kidding me. Each cluster represents a letter and the notes position in the scale represents its location. Thats why the cluster representing s is so busy. I don't have time for this crap this weekend. If it is still not decoded (even if it is) i might give it a crack this week, not that that will help I played trombone for 6 years all that was required there was drooling definately not decerning pitch. why do i love these puzzles they hurt my head so.

I won't have time to try unfortunately (I'll be going on a trip in a few hours) but that looks like the kind of stuff I should be able to work on. Excitement!!! The video is great!

J, I just realized you wouldn't have been able to "play" the letter x. Haha I know, I'm so lame trying to find bugs in such a beautiful system... ;)
