I don't see this as a problem.

TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!! And I'm so quoting you on that if I need to squash anyone doing it

I mean really - people should have some consideration and reads the comments already left first! Jeez, if you have the time to leave a comment, you could at least skim what's already been said.

Of course, ideally people would read the whole thread first, I agree. But personally, it doesn't bother me, as long as folks don't all feel the need to reply to it and say "we've already said that". I think we've all been excited after watching a new video and wanted to post our thoughts right away. One repetitive post doesn't hurt much, and it lets people express their excitement.

I definitely agree with that. But I'm the kind of person who doesn't post unless I feel like I can make a reasonable addition to what's being said.

So...maybe I should delete this reply.

In theory reading all the posts before posting is great. However some of us log in to over 20 pages of comments. Sorry, not reading them all. shrugs

I think it depends on what someone's dropping in to do with their post. If they just want to throw in what they thought of it ("I thought it was creepy/boring/pointless/whatever"; "I liked/hated it, and here's why"), then I think it would be ridiculus to expect them to read every post.

It's only when they're going to posit an observation or theory 20 pages in with the assumption that no one else noticed or considered it that I think it's reasonable to expect they read everything. Anything else would seem like pretending the thread didn't start until you posted.

I've noticed that some people will post what they thought of the video, and then say they're going to go back and read everything that's been said before doing anything else. That seems like a perfectly considerate and reasonable approach.

Gosh, that's what I thought the search function was for.

I don't get how the search feature has anything to do with what I said at all?

I'm with BK on this. Enthusiasm of any kind should not be quashed. It encourages fans, especially newcomers. This may seem annoying to those who have been around for a while, but there is a purpose for this. It's like yelling, "Hooray!" when something wonderful happens.

I'm actually pretty content whith how the mods are handling this. They let people post all they want while it's loading...and once the video is up they split it. People on both sides of the coin seem to be getting something. I dunno...in the video section I just put my reaction to the video, anyway. Any type of theorizing I put in Plot discussion.
