I voted, and moved "My First Kiss" to the top and "Chad Vader: Dayshift Manager, Episode 1" up a spot.

So, the winners of the YouTube awards were announced today, and Ask A Ninja won for best series. This is absolute baloney. When you voted, "Ask A Ninja" was automatically ordered in the top slot of the 10 videos listed. People had to move the videos around as they wanted, but I am sure this pre-ordering affected a lot of the categories and, in this case, seriously helped "Ask A Ninja." (Anybody with polling experience care to comment? - I've never seen this method of voting before.)

I'll certainly keep an eye on this and keep moving LonelyGirl up to #1. This is fun...very cool!

it's not clear, marbella. an AP article says LG15 was 4th, but that's also where lg15 showed up when you pulled up the voting page.

this use of a preferential (ie., ordered) voting system that required voters to put all 10 videos into a slot (instead of allowing voters to rank only those they know and leave the rest blank) was ill-conceived. not that internet polls are accurate anyway, but this made it much worse.

As someone with polling experience I can tell you that you don't need polling experience to spot the flaw in that system - you've already pointed it out yourself. It was a horrible idea.

Anyone who's taken a political science class, for that matter, could have told them that in polls people are going to do one of four things:

1) Go straight for what they're looking for if they've got something in mind, and pretty much ignore everything else
2) Give heed only to those things they recognize, even if it's only recognition of the name (local elections, for instance, basically come down to only name recognition)
3) Give votes to stuff ordered closer to the top of the list in the event they don't have a lot of familiarity with everything
4) Some combination of the above

I'm not saying "Ask A Ninja" didn't get a lot of intentional votes, but I am saying that polling system was the most god-awful I've ever seen.

Not to mention that people could vote over and over again; that's just ridiculous. It should be one vote per person.

You could only vote once per hour.
