It's just hard for me to turn my back on friends...see, that's a remnant of my doormat past I need to reckon with. I'm bold and blunt with everyone...except friends and such.

Kas - I've been thinking and here's another way you could go. The next time she calls up wanting to do something just say this verbatim
"I would love to - just be aware that if you stand me up again I will come to your house and betchslap you upside your flakey-ass head"
What do you think? Too much?

Not at all. In fact, I'd say something like this:
"I'd come over and betchslap your flakey-ass head, but I'm doing something vastly more important. I'm counting my hairs. And, dammit, you made me lose count. Bye."

She doesn't know the non doormat person, she knew the super nice person...I was trying to ease her into it, lol.
