Yeah. Jonas's parents were not married, and once Jonas and his sister were independent they would move into a commune-ish home for the elderly. The only reason Jonas's parents were together was to raise two kids.
The character is this book was named Jonas? Now, that is interesting.

I wonder if the Creators thought of that...

If so, that gives interesting hints on Jonas's parents. It would be a lot like Bree's.

I like the idea of Lucy being Bree's birth mom -- it makes a lot more sense than most theories I've heard. But then why wouldn't Lucy raise Bree herself? I don't really think its true, but I like it.

However, the fake parents not married thing... that makes a TON of sense, and would say something interesting things about the Order if it were true.

Also, it would explain why Lucy is always the Order member we see. She wants to be closer to her daughter? Whatever, I'm tired as hell. Don't listen to my drivel.
i say her "mom" is Oppy and her birth-mom is Tachy, forced to give up her child and go underground like T2. :smt007 :luvs that movie:

Anyway, this theory rules. I thought of it a while ago. I also wonder if people within the Order typically get married, or even call themselves couples. I mean, Gemma told us about when she wanted to talk to that guy named Sam, but her mother told her not to. And Bree supposedly broke her purity bond when she started sneaking out at night to be with Daniel. In fact, she never even thought of Daniel that way until YT commenters told her that he liked her. The women who are held high in the Order seem to be independent, and well, single. Maybe romantic relationships just are not respected in the Order.

I would say this is correct, since everything they do seems to be geared away from any kind of emotional impulse or response.

You're right, some couples don't marry. But your parents weren't part of the Order. So, although its possible Bree's parents just never got married (or the Creators forgot to put a ring on his finger), I think that it is actually quite likely that this emotion condemning cult doesn't like relationships, and might not want Bree's parents to marry.

Jonas' parents

Post by SuperRuss »

So for this theory to work Jonas' parents would have to be in the order. Are they? has there been any hint of this? I can't remember if there has,

Just want to throw in that not every married couple wears wedding rings. My husband and I don't.

I stopped wearing mine when I had 2 kids in diapers because I was washing my hands constantly and I just got out of the habit of wearing it. My husband doesn't wear one because he's a carpentar/electrician, and it can be dangerous to wear any kind of jewelry doing the kind of work he does.

Isn't Bree's adopty dad a doctor? Maybe he just doesn't wear one because of work?

Interesting theory, though.

I like the idea that they were only brought together to raise bree...and it would make sense that they still aren't living at bree's house and why they left so willingly. One way or another, due to her running or being of age to do the ceremony, their "job" was done.

I guess the romantic side of me can't wrap my brain around 2 people being together for at least 16 years without having at least grown fond of each other. Obviously, if Bree thought they were a happy family, they had to put a good face on being a happy couple.

16 years is a long time to share a bedroom and pretend to like someone.
