Guns are not nearly as common in the US as you seem to believe. In my entire life, I think I've met maybe two people who owned a gun, and one of them was a real nutcase.
The only exception is here in Texas, where every little old lady that lives out in the country owns a pistol to shoot varmints with and every redneck has a shotgun rack in the back of his pickup cab. More than half of the people I know own guns, several of them own multiple guns. Perhaps Texas is the only state where such is the case. I dunno.
But I agree. Bree, Daniel, and Jonas don't need firepower. First, it isn't necessary, and second, it wouldn't be believable. Can you even picture Bree pickin' up a gun and tryin' to shoot it?? I can't.

(chuckle) Yeah, Freaky, Tejas is a whole different country in many ways -- hell, it's a whole different dimension.
Here on the East Coast, people in Bree, Daniel, and Jonas's social circles would never own guns. I suspect the same is true in California.

I actually think it would be perfectly realistic in this situation-- if this situation was real, kidnapping and all that, while not being able to trust the police, would be pretty damn serious. They have no idea what the ceremony entails, so they have no idea how dangerous this all is. It would be weird for them to already have guns, but it wouldn't be that weird for them to get one now, considering, for all they know, the Order wants to do some really effed up shit to Bree.
That's only speaking to how reasonable a suggestion that is in it's own right though--- it seems pointless for LG15 in the context of the show.

Uhh, you must live in the boonies of western PA.
Philly has a lot of gun violence, but most people I know who don't live in the actual city don't have guns-- and in fact, plenty of people in the city that I know don't have guns either.

I know a lot of people with guns...but mostly because I live in the country where people hunt a lot. Not quite the same at all, they only take them with them when they are going hunting, etc. My husband has a hand gun but he never would think of carrying it. I don't really know why he has it, actually.

I agree, though...unless it's a hollywood movie it wouldn't make sense for this show to have these kids shooting guns in the city.

i live right by scranton.. not the boonies.
and we of course have some gun violence in the more city-like areas, but few people use them for anything more then shooting an animal in four feet of snow..

I see your point, but I think there is still a lot of new plotlines to discover. It's time to explore some of the mysteries here:
- Jonas's parents.
- Cassie.
- Bree's mom.
- Bree's real parents.
- wth is the Ceremony.
- The goal of the Order.
- The beliefs of the Order.
- The disk from Tachy.
- etc.
I can't think of any more, but you get the point. There's just so much left to answer, and I'm hoping we will be rewarded with some of these answers in this new arc.

And the note her parents wrote!

And why she was chosen in the first place. Why she was taken as a baby. How they found her. Did they steal her? Was she already an orphan? And why did the Order take her parents in the first place? To coax her into doing the Ceremony? Or to punish them for failing in their mission to raise her for the Ceremony?
And how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie-pop?
The world may never know.

I grew up in Philly, and my family still lives either in the city or right outside. And my partner grew up in Pittsburgh, and her family still lives in the city or right outside.
Neither of us knows anyone who owns a gun.

Just to clarify-- I grew up in Philly too, and I was actually saying I don't know anyone with a gun, despite the fact that Philly has a lot of gun violence, in reaction to Staticmorning's "everyone in Pennsylvania" has a gun comment.

Thanks for the clarification, homegirl! Where in Philly did you grow up? For me, it was Mayfair, in the Northeast -- near Cottman & Frankford. But I escaped.

I grew up in Kensington/Fishtown and I love it there, but I hate the North Philly/Temple area which is sketchy as hell. I get to escape it from late August- May every year at least! Going back kind of blows though, because some of my favorite parts of the city are completely different than they were when I was growing up, and all the good punk venues are gone.
