Uhmm, I think the prevailing wisdom was that the tracking device was (is?) in Owen... If that is true, then that was a pretty silly thing to do. I guess time will tell. Not trying to create an issue out of this, just pointing our logic inconsistencies. But then again, logic is not paramount in all of this .

I do understand the thrill of role playing though and I do like the fact that the "good vs. bad" ambiguities are there, it makes the story a little less trite. The ARG vids can be a powerful force to move the story forward, as it is challenging for the Main Cast to do this while maintaining the illusion of a vlog. Tricky for the writers, but I think they are getting better at it.

As I recall, there was a tracking device in Owen, but there was also one in Daniel's car. We know this because Daniel said Tachyon contacted him directly and told him about it, which is what led to his decision to ditch the car.

I didn't think it was ever confirmed that Owen has a tracking device. If he did, it's still there.

If Owen had a tracking device in him, then Oppy definitely wouldn't have needed us to go find DB's ID and therefore the area they were staying in. She'd know exactly where they are.

Assuming Owen is still with them.
