A stage is part construction sight. They are always working on some set or another, therefore screws, staples, and such are often hiding on stage, barefoot isn't safe. I belive that's where it came from!

FONDUE!!!
O whistling on stage or in a theatre is also considered bad luck. Most Fly systems (series of pullies and ropes for curtains) were originally heavy ropes and stage weights, so sailors who were familier with ropes and pullies were hired to run them, and the sailors communicated by whistling.
an actor or other such passer by could confuse them if whistling... thus Whistling in a theatre is bad luck!
