I'm just catching up here and there...Henry, thank you for the history piece... I'm very bad at putting things together, it seems, but that really made some of what's being asked here just...well...just kind of make my skin crawl...

It is an alphabet table look at this

Enter pigpen pattern #3 in the encoding pattern.
You'll notice it goes from a to z with a few exceptions the double dotted block and the repeated end.

O i think i may know what the dot and cresent are.
I was researching the Hymn of One symbol and found this.

This is venus and a waining moon.
Maybe his symbol is the one for a waxing moon paired with venus.

That's cool, but I think it's a coincidence. The meaning of those symbols is tied to the Marlett tag, which I explained in the previous page of this thread. It just means that both letters i and j are coded with the same symbol. The pigpen alphabet was used to decode the puzzle on Sean's blog (check
this thread).
