Aleister Crowley.

The Hymn of One: Religion or merely recruiting for the Order? Discuss her "religion".

Mr. Crowley, what went on in your head
Mr. Crowley, did you talk to the dead
Your lifestyle to me seemed so tragic
With the thrill of it all
You fooled all the people with magic
You waited on Satan's door

Mr. Charming, did you think you were pure
Mr. Alarming, in nocturnal rapport
Uncovering things that were sacred manifest on this earth
Conceived in the eye of a secret
Yeah, they scattered the afterbirth - yeah!

Solo

Mr. Crowley, won't you ride my white horse
Mr. Crowley, it's symbolic of course
Approaching a time that is classic
I hear that maidens call
Approaching a time that is drastic
Standing with their backs to the wall

Epilogue:
Was it polemically sent
I wanna know what you meant
I wanna know
I wanna know what you meant, yeah!

-Ozzy Osbourne

"Don`t shoot the messenger"
Haha yeh I forgot that!

"compose as many profound books"

Can you provide some authors in this regard, please?

His critics, that is?

The use of the word "profound" is one of personal opinion. The word, used is to show an opinion in Mr. Crrowley's writings. As, I do not see his works as "profound" in any sense of the word, I cannot help you with that list.

You can search the internet for yourself for those who publicly ridiculed him.
I prefer S.A.R.A.H. or SARAH.

A "Google" search was not what kept me away. I ask of you to do so yourself as you see. I was busy living as I do, not sitting waiting for your rebuttal.

You are correct about the "use" of the word profound.

To each be true to thine own.

I only commented in the first place because of your harsh way of presenting "your" view/truth) of the man.

I`m not interested in searching the internet for people who don`t like Crowley.

I was interested in what you had to present since you were the one
who attacked him in the first place.

Hiram

My quarrel is with another commenter on this board. For other reasons.
I have my own religious beliefs. I do so respect those of others, but it does not mean I have to agree just because it is published. And, the words that I wrote, was not an "attack" as you call it. It was a statement, based upon a commenter's note I did not agree with, and full of truth. Not opinion.
I do not follow a guide in the form of man's teachings or have an idol to fall my faith upon. If you or anyone else feels differently, so, you choose. Mr. Crowley himself searched for truth and a religion. He is/was like so many that are out there now.
I have seen many shattered religions and those persons who were "killed" in the term of "breakdown" because of what they put their life aside for, their religion, had crumbled.
I do not wish to argue who is wrong and who is right. As, we will both stand strong in our beliefs and our opinions. As though we have the right and the freedom to do so.

And to you, in return, regards...

SARAH

Dear SARAHPHOBIA88,

Thanks for elaborating.

Your words towards Crowley were "harsh"
and certainly appear to be an attack on him.

I agree with some of your later points, tho, but not all of your "point of view" in regards to Crowley, his life and work.

The rest of what you said, i`m in harmony with.

Regards,
Hiram

f**k Ozzy.

But as for Crowley, I think we might have enough on the man. I think his main purpose in this is that he started the HoO or the Order. Going deeper into some of the religions he is connected to might give us some answers on the ceremony, the structures of either the HoO or the Order, etc.

I think he, possibly along with H.P Lovecraft, serves more along the lines of inspiration for this series than actually playing an actual part in it.

SARAHPHOBIA88 wrote: And who is to say that some of his critics are not published authors?
They were and are authors, actors, religious leaders, political figures, men and women of medicine, heads of mass companies, heads of household, the poorest in the harshest of countries, and the richest in the most powerful of countries.
not really, they were mostly folks like sinclair - oh, and mussolini didn't like him much, but that was fine since he was friends with Winston Churchill. We do remember who won that war, right?

>> Let's see:
>> 1. Bankruptcy

Jesus died bankrupt, too. he had a good carpentry bizness until he gave it up.

>> 2. Drug Addict

drugs in spiritual practice have been in use since the dawn of time.

>> 3. Prejudice

a product of his times, yet far ahead of it in many ways

>> 4. Non-believer of women's individuality

"then will I lift her to pinnacles of power: then will I breed from her a child mightier than all the kings of the earth. I will fill her with joy: with my force shall she see & strike at the worship of Nu: she shall achieve Hadit."

Can't argue with the good book.

>> 5. Known as "The Wickedest Man in the World"

a compliment, it meant people were paying attention.

>> 6. Tortured (and killed) animals

no torture, but i'm sure there was a sacrifice here and there. every non-vegetarian does the same thing every day. "And, forasmuch as meat and drink are transmuted in us daily into spiritual substance..."

>> 7. Contractor of many STDs

one or two. :) he lived long and well.

>> 8. Hypocrite (on all sorts of accounts)

not really, he was actually pretty damn true to his word.

>> 9. Expulled from religions and countries.

he just got kicked out of italy, like mussolini. the only "religion" he got kicked out of was the hermetic order of the golden dawn, which was, by the time crowley was active, more of a rich person's social club than a magickal order. never was a religion itself, though.

>> 10. Died alone

that's wrong too. if he died alone, how would anyone know his last words?

She only gets praise for having a child, not a career, writing a book, fighting in some crazy war or some other conflict, etc.

All she gets to do is make a kid, and that's it.
