I guess there is nothing weird about Lucy being jules's helper. I dont know, maybe since she felt that she failed with Bree she wanted to redeem herself with this girl.
But, Jules was still kidnapped, so if it was Lucy's responsibility to look after her, the Order might be a little pissed at her, even if she did get Bree in the end.

Lucy couldn't be her watcher, only reason being is because shes her Helper. (unless they're allowed both jobs *shrugs*)

even if she was her helper she'd probably still be in trouble.

Doing a little housekeeping and re-titled the thread.
Just a note to everyone: It's much easier to navigate the forums and draw people into the discussion when you clearly title the threads. Please keep this in mind when creating new threads.

Who said she was a watcher?
I think one is higher up than the other. One tells the other what to do. Who does what, i dont know, but someone is yelled at.

The evidence suggests that watchers are assigned when there is something that actually needs watching--a threat, I suppose. Bree and Jules sitting in their rooms doing what they are told wouldn't call for a watcher.

What if this whole thing is like when the Order had a fake ceremony to fool Daniel? What if there is no new girl at all?
I'd feel gypped.

Evidence leans more towards the watchers being present at all times, actually. They are making sure a secret cult does not go public. You cannot just say, "Ah, we can trust that no one will enter the community and mess with our plans, or that anyone will try to leave, or even talk about it."
It would be like building a prison and hiring no guards. That's what watchers are, guards, and sometimes serving as police or soldiers (taking away Bree's family, getting rid of her dad b/c he was talking, and their attempted securing the transfer of Dan) in their own sick sense.

I think I got confused between a "watcher" and a "helper"...what are the main differences again?

Considering the degree of parental control, I would guess that the parents function in this supervisory role ordinarily.

A helper is a person assigned to help prepare for the ceremony. Kinda like a teacher I presume. A watcher, as far as we know, is more like a protector. They are less personally involved from what I gather.

How many kids sneak away from their parents? Almost every single kid.
How many kids get past a group of people with high tech survailiance and considerable manpower? Not many.
The Order is secretive, they want nothing to do with the outside world, at least, they do not want the followers to. They seem to be the type that would pull a "big brother", and watch you. (pics of DB on Lucy's comp)
Let's go off topic for a sec.
Remember the pictures Julia's town? It was on Lucy's computer. I doubt they were thinking, "Well, I predict we will not catch Bree for several months, so somewhere in, oh, I dont know, May, we will try to fake her out with a fake ceremony girl." (I can picture one of those Guiness cartoon guys saying "Brilliant!")
Plus, the Order does not watch the vids as far as I know, so they would not see that Bree has changed dramatically over time. I would even think that they would not think she was the mastermind behind DB's rescue in "The Human Ransom". Think they would just say, "She's too soft and childlike to orchestrate an escape by helicopter. The idea must have been solely from Tachyon and Brother/10033." So, therefore, the farfetched plan that was hatched way ahead of its creation does not seem so plausible to me.
Ok, the recent vid shows that she is not the girl. I guess that really was their plan. The idea is still a little weird to me, it just seems to perfect.
Ah, well, I was wrong anyway, nothing will change that.
