I know this thread has died down, but I don't think this is a case of kicking the proverbial dead horse. That filly is just resting and biding it's time before it springs up again (in a day, a week, who knows) and starts running again.

This is my attempt at hopefully explaining a lot of the problems since Canon Day.

LG15 and the OpAphid ARG are fundamentally different.

This ARG is a game, yes, but it is a thoughtful, sophisticated and often-times complex and difficult one. LG15, in comparison is a video serial that is mainly character based and completely open for speculation. I personally think The Creators are lucky to have Opaphid as the Official ARG, and not the other way around.

The regular/long-time/obsessed players take this game seriously. Flame or mock all you want, none of them would give a shit. The PMs have presented us with an excellent game, and the players have met the challenges, probably a lot sooner (in most cases) than expected.

The main reason the players have been so successful, is that it is played using the credo "There is a time for work, and a time for play". Videos have contained clues and drops have contained elaborately coded puzzles. The forum in the OpAphid section is divided into two parts for a reason. In the current game section, unless a thread is marked "Speculation", it is for serious posts. There are parts of this game that are speculative, and there are times when discussion results in answers. These discussions occur in "real-time" in the irc chat and sometimes in the Speculation threads on the forum, but are kept away from threads that deal with game progression for a reason.

To be successful at this game it is imperative that there is order and organization. Random personal thoughts, opinions and theories, without supportive logic and fact hinder the progression of the game. One-word commentary and off-topic posts are more than a nuisance and are treated as such. Attempted gamejacks and inappropriate in-character interference are despised. Players need to be able to have threads that can be used for quick reference, as many of the tasks include numerous steps. What happened on this forum today was absolutely counter-productive, and was justifiably met with derision.

There is a time for work and a time for play.

Opheads work hard and play hard too. There is much wit, laughter and comradery amongst the players, and like any other gathering of people, friendships have formed. I have also found there is a vital characteristic shared by most -- No One Takes Themselves Too Seriously. It's refreshing! Teasing, joking, poking fun, and one-upmanship are fun when you don't take yourself too seriously. There are people around here that need to learn how to live this way.

I know I'm being long-winded and self-important as usual, but I wanted to add something about horcruxes. I don't know her, but I find myself reading her posts and agreeing with the sentiments more often than not. Maybe it's how some are raised, or that we are just wired differently, but the depth and consistency of how personal some get on this forum not only amazes, but often offends me. Don't get me wrong, I'll never forget she called me old, withered and dried up (embellished to make a point), but you'll never see me pissing and moaning about it on the forum.

Mainly because she forgot the word "hag".

I hate when people use their inability to read for content as an excuse to be pissy.

I hate self-proclaimed and often self-induced martyrs.

I hate being told that we're all terrible people when if anyone would do as I have repeatedly asked and actually brought complaints to me we'd have a list all of three people long.

I hate that we clean up the board only to be told both of the following at the same time:
1) but I don't want to post in a systematic way
2) but the posts aren't in a systematic order
Gee, wonder where that problem comes from.

I hate when people here are nice and awesome and welcoming and then get shit on the next week when they aren't needed any more.

I hate that people like to blame not likeing certain people on modality of converation rather than personality of said, popularly disliked, individual.

I hate that we all pay attention to when we here that we all hate "annoying poster here" but ignore the love we gave to new people like Holly, Sparky, Rub, Fall other people I'm forgetting cause I'm in 12 windows at once.
Hey, I resent being called new :P but I love being loved!! Your lucky I saw this thread Missy!!! <33333333333

I know the type of people I hate...*sings Booorrrdddeerrrrrlllinnnnneee, over the borderline*

(and I know damn straight Tiger knows what kind of peeps I'm talking about!)

I'm sick and tired of once again having to sift through a bunch of feces to catch myself up in this game.

I'm sick and tired of certain individuals thinking everyone wants to read every freaking dung filled thought they have on everything, instead of sitting down and writing a concise post regarding their thoughts. If every g-damn second post on a thread is written by you, get your ass to the Gen Dis. board, or better yet, go get your own blog post whore.

And last but not least, I'm sick and tired of people acting like idiots and assholes and then expecting respect. Life doesn't work that way.

Shit.
Oh and I love you too, actually, I love you more then Shifty. And if you ever want to leave your husband for me, I'd be up for that :) because your teh SexAY!
