Just talked to the landlord...he was telling me about the hotel we will be staying in for the next two nights. Free breakfast! Like a mini vacation in our own city!

Well that doesn't sound too bad then I guess! Continental breakfast, American breakfast or English breakfast though?!

I wrote up a good summary of the bathroom issue earlier, so I will find it and repost it in a sec.

Long wait in the hospital, but the procedure went very well! Dad is home and recuperating!

I think continental. Too bad not American, that's the biggest bang for the landlord's buck!

Ok, here is what happened:
krig wrote:Well, we have been complaining about this problem for 2 years now and they finally got around to fixing it. The floor around the toilet is all saggy and it feels like if you were to sit down too hard  , you would end up in the apartment below! It seems that there is a leak somewhere in the wall or in the floor because the ceiling in the apartment below is all screwed up and moldy and saggy too. So basically, they waited waaaaay too long to fix the problem and now they have to tear out the whole floor and start over, which means no bathroom for us. Hence, the night in the hotel. And I have to lock my cats in the bedroom with their food and litterbox so that they don't get stuck in the open floor tonight when the handyman leaves. Agh!

What exactly is an American breakfast? Was supposed to be one in Florence but was just a continental with some chopped up sausage and some cakes!!

It seems to me that it is usually a HUGE breakfast, complete with eggs, bacon, toast, jam, butter, possibly panackes, juice and coffee. Huge like Americans, hence the title!

You don't strike me as being huge my lovely!! Perfectly formed....

I kinda assumed there would be pancakes involved, but our hotel was pancake free. And our free cocktail turned out to be a tiny amount of red wine in a glass!! All very strange.

So after your hotel stay will you be around more often again?

I should be...I am back from all of the hospital drama and hopefully once the bathroom drama is over I can return to my lovely pals here!

Yes, and I don't eat a lot of crap, so I guess I'm not exactly like most Americans.

Eating crap is a generally bad thing to be doing....

My missing wallet arrived back today at last. £75 in the end it cost to get it back. All very irritating...

So sorry to hear that you had to spend so much to get it back! At least it was returned and wasn't stolen!
