Wow. Sysop. That's a title I haven't held since about '98 or so (Nitemare Cafe BBS! 740-681-XXXX. Formerly 614-681-XXXX. Is it scary that I still know my BBS number by heart?)... Yes, the title is still in use with telnet BBS systems. Not sure about anywhere else.

lmfai... It's no stanger than phpBB is it?...

One day we'll laugh about that one too...

So I had another thought...

What if the only way to REALLY be an agent for a specific side was if you were hand picked by that side??? Say Op PM's you and says something like, "I have been watching you..." and then gives a test and then accepts them as an agent and they could be used for specific things?

That could be awesome...

But sigh... I think the only way to REALLY make a game for everyone is to let everyone see all the cards...

Don't worry, Kelly. I've just proven myself to be an old fart is all ;)

"mod arm" is reserved for when I feel pushed into moderating in a way that I'd rather not. Such as when someone doesn't listen to my polite pleas to change their behavior, and I'm forced to take action. It always makes me feel bad when I do it

Great in theory, IRR. Hand-picking players for each side would definitely not work out so well in practice, though. Impossible to keep everyone happy, for one thing. For another, where do new players go? Maybe have general clues, then side-specific clues? The general ones are for the players who aren't on a side yet? It'd be fine for a closed game, not available to the general public. But here? I don't even wanna imagine moderating what kind of mess that could become.

It's more like my middle finger, actually... Which is the one I use for left-clicks of my mouse. I use my right-handed mouse on the left side, even though I'm right-handed. So when I'm using my "mod arm," I'm giving the offender the finger ;)

I know. How can I deal with the adrenalin rush, right? But it's ironic that I'm using the middle finger to lock threads and delete posts and such. There's a certain satisfaction in that ;)

If the only chat "allowed" for the ARG was the official one, I probably wouldn't be playing this.

The official one is slow, buggy, and full of obnoxious, vulgar people who think it is perfectly acceptable to ask the minors with webcams to strip, and when the mods are asked to enforce more appropriate behavior, the person(s) complaining are either bullied into silence or removed.

Needless to say, it's not somewhere I find enjoyable to frequent. Perhaps if was a better app, and actually modded by those not selectively blind, I'd consider it.

I'm still shocked that there has been this huge to-do this week over issues that, even if the worst rumors were true, are less objectionable then the official chat is on a regular basis.
