OKAY I CAUGHT YOU!

I was totally confused last night about something. How come earlier in the movie when Jack is in his jail cell, the moon is shining and everything in it, yet he doesn't turn all skeletal... but then when he's fighting Barbossa, he walks into the moonlight and IS all skeletal... wtf is that about?

Because when he was negotiating with Barbossa he took a coin... then later he puts it back.
