<3 googleads. hilariously appropriate. we shoudl start a thread about really weird things so that it can spider it and come up with strange ads!!! like...hand bananas.

Google ads are targeted based on text posted on the site, and seem weighted toward recent additions.

We saw the same thing last year on a forum called The Fuselage (fansite for LOST), where a large group of people had the word "tacos" in their signatures (it was a running joke at the time). One guy had a list of about twenty different kinds of tacos in his signature, and he posted a bunch of times, so the word appeared on the page a huge number of times.

Very soon, Google ads for tacos started showing up mixed in with a few from Hanso Foundation fan sites, and the reaction was pretty funny.

*oooOOOOOO, they're watching us! and they want to sell us tacos!!!!*
