That smile he makes wasn't a "you so silly" kind of smile...it just...he looks like he knows who she's talking about but ...

I just watched it again and theyre is a part where he makes a goofy smile when she's asking about cassie..then he still tries to play it off like he knows nothing. He, at the very least, remembers her.

Here's some speculation on this:

What if Bree has a split personality? That's why Daniel didn't remember who Cassie was, but Bree remembered "walking around the track" with her. And how "people were mean to her."

Maybe all those kooky cult ceremonies when she was a kid, and all the people making ...

So IF we're going on the split personality theory:

The line:

might have a new meaning:

A kingdom divided will fall -- so Cassie and Bree being divided will cause their downfall?

Sorry. I meant:

So IF Cassie and Bree are split personalities

Bree is unaware of Cassie, but Cassie is aware of Bree

Those 2 lines of the poem:
