Does line 4 have the word "defence"?

and are we completely avoiding "Oppose them yet old needy friend" for line 2?


unless Cassie is going British on us, defense is spelled with a "s," not a "c"...

She didn't write garden twice.
The first line should be: "Inside the gate you will defend".

Hmm I must have picked garden up from a typo. Well that makes sense then, but the second line still sounds wrong.

it might be wrong, but it's a lot better than the "myope poet's old needy friend" which ...

ok, so I was thinking about how this could be related to Frank and this is what I've come up with:

Frank has been emailing people with the name Frank Beast (I realize we don't know whether those emails are legit or not yet, but just assuming they are...)

so perhaps the "Beast within" is Cassie ...

not sure if everyone went to bed or if people are still up reading this, but i thought of something on the interpretation side (perhaps this should be in a new thread)...

assuming that throughout the poem "they" is referring to the "men" who "can't understand," perhaps the "father" in the poem ...

as far as the absorbs and bares question, i think absorbs works better..."bares both's sin" seems strange grammatically...wouldn't it be "bares both's sins" (plural sins)...
