The thing is, this picture was stolen from his motel room. So it would be a picture that would be in a motel, right? Something mass produced, not an original work of art. And what kind of motel would have a painting of Hindu gods on the wall?

.. Of course I don't think I've ever been in a motel ...

I think this picture is supposed to correspond to WHY, so a religious killing seems appropriate. But is she killed for her religion as part of a ritual, or killed because someone doesn't agree with her religion?!

I found a better picture. It's from a book called The Martyrs Mirror by Jan Luyken, about the torture of early Christians for their faith. I found a post about the book here:

Not really any clues, the page is just a bunch of drawings/etchings of people being tortured. The only text is to say the artist and title of each work. Mostly they're all pictures of people hanging with weights on their feet.
