Or maybe, he was "planning" on going away with friends, but "They" intercepted him before he got there, and he's tied to a stake right now with a fire being lit around his feet, and he will be slow-roasted like a rotisserie chicken and served to hungry football fans this Sunday.

Or maybe he just "said" he was going away with friends, and then cruised to Calcutta to cure the lepers, where the crazy culties couldn't catch him (hope you appreciate my alliteration). To put it another way, maybe he went somewhere where he could hide out for awhile until the coast is clear.

It would be cool if Daniel turned up missing, and Bree had to go on a mission to find him.  Of course the cops would be looking for him at the same time... why am I suddenly reminded of "Midnight Run" with Bobby DeNiro?

In the climactic scene, Bree could find Daniel, and they could kiss passionately as the credits roll, at which point Bree would say, "Jesus! I never realized how huge your fucking nose is! The little "Where in the world is Daniel" and it's cheeky "Carmen San Deigo" reference seems like a return to the old humor. Ok, I sort to get it now.

My speculation:
Bree goes to on a search to find Daniel.
The bald guy posts a video of Daniel in his custody.
Bree gets very worried.
Bree doesn't know what to do.
Gemma arrives to help Bree.
Bree and Gemma go on Daniel search.
Cat and mouse game goes on and on.
Hints of Gemma is not what she seems to be.
Bree pieces the pictures together but tries not to blow Gemma's cover.
Daniel is rescued eventually, oddly with a lot of help from Gemma.
Daniel falls in love with Gemma and her sweet british accent.
This starts a typical love triangle saga...

The story never ends as long as everyone on the internet is watching lonelygirl15.
I think the producers need to figure out another way to develop the plot now...

So to make it more interesting, I think viewers should start posting their own characters as part of the story.

If anyone remembers the "Bree the Cookie Monster" vid, purplemonkey held up 10, 12, 06, the date of the ceremony.  The creators must have known where they were going with this whole thing from the start, even though the show has totally changed.

The waiting is worse than a suspense book.  I mean, a book you can go at your own pace and you know that you'll KNOW SOMETHING by the end you which KNOW is so many pages... but here, its two days for two minutes and no telling how much you'll find out. The only problem is that she's in London and LG and DB are in LA... It seems unlikely that they would have had a new character come in from halfway across the world, because she can't participate in the story line, just comment on it.

As for the professionalism of the video...people, there are people out there who can act in front of a camera BESIDES Jess and Yousef... actually, before youtube became a hit, many people would watch things called "television" and "movies" in which actors would, well, act in front of a camera.

As to the rest: Gemma is pretty, but, um, she isn't too pretty to be an ordinary girl because she IS an ordinary girl.  She's human, right?  Unless the creators found a way to make superbeautiful android females, I think it's safe to say she IS a real person.

She SAYS (the character)she lives in London, or in the vicinity, so I think she's an aussie who moved to London and has mostly an aussie accent, but wiht some English inflection and pronunciation here and there.  And I think it's a real accent.  You'd have to have some serious dialect training to be able to pull that off that effectively--and she's young.  OK, OK, I'm NOT Australian OR British, but I am an actress and have learned both for stage.  Certain dipthongs she has are very subtle and lead me to believe she's lived the accent. My $0.02 - Gemma's accent is more New Zealand than Australian - but it's not quite right.  I guess it would be consistent with a New Zealander who has lived in London for a while...  Some people just take on accents and phrases really quickly (not me!).  Another possibility (silkworm raised) is that it is someone *trying* to do a NZ accent - possibly tutored by our Ms Rose?  Seems reasonable.

In her video, Gemma mentions that her parents "still live in the community"...  Possibly the community/commune Bree and her family were involved with in New Zealand?  Fits in nicely with the above...  I noted with interest that she kinda stumbles over the word "community", too...  A bit of baggage there?

Not to make this too long, but YES, Gemma seems to be a good friend of Jess's.  Jess posted a couple of comments on her myspace, and their are pics of them together. Unfortunately, I don't have a trained ear enough for the NZ or Aussie accent, to know when she's slipping a British accent. Maybe she's been recently trained (as an actress) to do a NZ accent, and a little of what she knew better before, a British accent, keeps slipping out. 

I'll give a funny example: For Americans, we know the distinctive MinnesOHta accent much better. So, if you try to get a standard-speaking American to immitate what they think is an Irish or Scottish accent, many times you'll hear them slip into the Minnesota accent. I'm confused over Gemma's age, though.  It seems like she's supposed to be older, considering she says, "It's nice to see you all grown up."  That would lead me to believe that she's supposed to be in her early 20's, 5-6 years older than Bree.  Also, she's at the university, so she's definitely NOT 15-16.  Although her name is Gemmers19, so she's probably 19, like she is in real life.  

I don't know; I don't think it's tied in to the story enough to be a part of it.  I think it's an accepted spin-off, that's it. I reckon Gemma is 19, about 2Â½ - 3 years older than Bree.  Gemma and Bree were involved in the same commune in New Zealand, sometime between 1997 and 2001.  Gemma's parents are still there, but for some reason involving "outsiders", Gemma had to leave ("branch off from things" ... "personally couldn't deal with it").  Possibly involving a boy?  Whatever it was, it doesn't sound amicable.  I am guessing, but figure Gemma left for London fairly recently - certainly after Bree left New Zealand in 2001.  Gemma's been in London for long enough to start assimilating the accent.

It's unclear whether Gemma still subscribes to whatever belief system she had in New Zealand - I'd hazard a guess and say yes, since she still refers to "outsiders".  If this is the case, I don't expect Gemma to try and convince Bree to change her beliefs.

The dog Gemma mentions is *not* the dog Bree mentions in Ep 22 (Mysteries of My Past... REVEALED!), as that happened in Nottinghamshire, before Gemma was in the UK.

Squirrel-Nut-Man?  OK, I'm from NZ, and have never heard of that one.  Rock-Paper-Scissors, yes...  So not sure what's going on there.  A quick bit of Googling doesn't turn up much.  But hey, I don't know *every* little detail of NZ culture - especially what might happen behind closed commune doors :-)

Okay, I was trying to come up with a possible video that would advance the plot but stay within the limitations of the medium.

How about:  Bree confronts Lucy in her room (if Lucy were to show up again, maybe to sanitize Bree's room so nothing of Daniels there could point to the order?).  We could have some serious plot advancement, and Bree could be told that she's not old enough to understand these things.  Just speculation, go ahead and shoot holes.

I'm still thinking a Halloween-period story climax.

The community could be as simple as their hometown, but I'm sure that wherever Bree's parents moved they were sure to have a community of others who followed their religion. OK, maybe I should have stated more clearly that these were theories ;-)

I got Gemma's age from her YouTube profile.  Similarly, the dates were worked out from Bree's birthdate (Scorpio, currently 16), and her timeline as given in Episode 22 (Mysteries of My Past... REVEALED!).

The theory that Gemma and Bree met in New Zealand came about because of two things: Gemma's accent, and her mention of a "community".  I think it's not unreasonable to think that the words "community" and "commune" could refer to the same thing.  Perhaps Gemma is trying to avoid apparent negative connotations associated with the word "commune"?

eustacia_vye, I agree the dog in question could very well be Bree's dog friend from Nottinghamshire.  You make a good point regarding it fitting in well with the storyline. If the dog were from Nottinghamshire, that would be about 4 years ago, whereas if it were from New Zealand, that would be 6-9 years ago...  How long does it take for a dog to go from healthy-looking to frail-looking?  (I'm a cat person...)

I totally accept that my musings are largely conjecture...  Maybe I'm getting a wee bit carried away.  But hey, we just met Gemma - there's not a lot to work with yet - and I'm just having fun.  That *is* the point, isn't it?  I guess what I'm saying is: right now, there is more or less equal evidence to support either case.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
