"Bibliomancy, also known as Stichomancy and Libromancy, is a form of divination that seeks to know the future by randomly selecting a passage from a book, frequently a sacred text. Method: Pick a book you believe to hold truth. Balance it on its spine; let it fall open. With eyes closed, touch your finger to any random passage. View the passage as wisdom to your future. " ala wikipedia
by saskia on 2006-09-22 21:36:48

did she say "ivan's thinking of a lot lately" or "i've been thinking of a lot lately" when apologizing to daniel at the end? plus i wonder how to go about searching for what language those symbols are in. it's videos like these that make this series so awesome

According to wikipedia: Bibliomancy, also known as Stichomancy and Libromancy, is a form of divination that seeks to know the future by randomly selecting a passage from a book, frequently a sacred text. Method: Pick a book you believe to hold truth. Balance it on its spine; let it fall open. With eyes closed, touch your finger to any random passage. View the passage as wisdom to your future. The Fall equinox is a a multi-faith celebration: Religious followers from around the world observe many seasonal days of celebration during late September. Most are religious holy days, and are linked in some way to the fall or autumn equinox. Common themes found worldwide are balance, harvesting, hunting, and remembrance of the dead. so that doesn't help us determine which religion she subscribes to either really...!
by jess on 2006-09-22 21:45:08

A bibliomancy is a type of diviniation - when a book is balanced on its spine and let to fall open, then you close your eyes an pick a passage. So it was "book goes up on its spine" not "vote goes up on post vine". So the next Thelemic holiday is Oct. 12, Crowley's birthday as people have said. After that - maybe Samhain? Hmmm...
by scbailey on 2006-09-22 21:53:02

She didn't say "I've been thinking about a lot lately," she said "I've been sneaking out a lot lately."
by Joe Blow on 2006-09-22 22:03:11

The letters are Enochian or Angelic script: C-R-S-A (Veh-Don-Fam-Un) or since Enochian is read from right to left, it could be: A-S-R-C Mean anything to anyone?

HEY LONELYGIRL IF YOU GET THIS DONT LISTEN TO WHAT EVERY BODY SAYS ABOUT YOU THERE JEALOUS YOU ROCK EITHER WAY!!HOPEFULLY YOU GOT PAID WELL...BRAD FROM CALI
by BRAD on 2006-09-23 05:31:51

Right, that is Enochian... which certainly fits with the Crowley photo. The book may be Liber AL vel Legis, the Book of the Law used by Crowley (a.k.a. Uncle Al), and the O.T.O.. Gematria is often symbolized via Enochian script and Liber AL is full of Gematria. So each of those letter may represent a number with an attribution, My guess is that C-R-S-A translates to teh name of a path on the Tree of Life. I'll need to do some searching but it's probably from Malkuth to Yesod, for an initiation into Yesod (the Moon).
by annie on 2006-09-23 05:45:39

equinox.. smart.. i guess people who follow your religion are smart.. gooooooooooooood.....
by rakesk on 2006-09-23 06:47:59

Bree, you're awesome. Pleae tell us which book is being used for the bibliomancy - the Bible, Qur'an, Aenied, or something else.
by Jimmy on 2006-09-23 06:58:20

by älskarLG15 on 2006-09-23 08:08:40

haha Ananael? What... are you a magician? That's not really a religion. Or Enochian. Hey um, writers, this is going to a scary place.
by rei on 2006-09-23 08:25:12

Haha. Scotty, and everyone else, CALM DOWN. You're all taking this "it's fake" this like a personal offense and way too seriously. Nothing's changed about the series except that you know. What's with the comment "and don’t worry, daniel’s feelings won’t be hurt. the actor playing him has already been paid." To all of you with similar thoughts, do you hate movies too because they lie to you, and all works of fiction because they're fake? Jesus. People are spazes. Why bother watching these anyways if you hate them so much, let alone commenting?
by blah on 2006-09-23 08:31:55

ok i have a few things to say. First all writers why did you ahve to make her into a satenist? I mean did you really have to do that. that right there is going to turn a lot of people away. just letting you know
by Zoey on 2006-09-23 08:41:03

UH ohhhh...poor Daniel. His poor little feelings will surely be scattered and stomped upon multiple times. :'( I feel for you, man.

by nalts on 2006-09-23 09:04:26

http://www.ananael.net/fequinox.html here is the ceremony she'll be in...creepy huh?
by Sian on 2006-09-23 09:26:51

Still making me smile and take an interest, though to be fair the vblogs are becoming a tad disjointed now. It is hard to fit it into a timeline when very little reference is given to a previous vblog, which makes the outside ones seem on a completely different timeline. Still, I have to admit I have a soft spot for Bree's character which is engaging my interest to the end. Flash card symbols took me way back to when I was 4 years and younger though :P Keep it up peeps.. keep it believable, not real. :)
by veritanuda on 2006-09-23 09:46:45

Where's the silly Bree we all love? Where's Bree the cookie monster? Where's Proving Science Wrong? This Religious stuff is weird. And where's Daniel's response to all of this? Are they dating now are something? Daniel needs to post a video.
by Christina Miller on 2006-09-23 09:56:25

So what's a "Bibliomancy"??? I went to Wikipedia and looked it up. Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibliomancy
by Engaged to be Married on 2006-09-23 10:58:48

Thanks Sian for the link (http://www.ananael.net/fequinox.html). I checked it out and it reminds me of the time I took a world religion class at a local university. I met some Wiccans there and they invited me to one of their "circles". The ceremony was very much like the description in the link Sian provided. However, I don't think it's "creepy". Creepy would be if they sacrificed a human or called upon Satan or something like that. Celebrating the Autumn Equinox is very ancient and most people's very ancient ancestors performed some time of Equinox celebration before they converted to Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc. Very ancient peoples did not know about monotheism and their only reference was what they saw and understood and that was the changing of the seasons and nature. Therefore ancient people based their religion on the changing of the seasons and nature. A one almighty powerful God was something they hadn't come up with yet. To them, the world was a big and scary place and they devised away to explain everything by using nature gods. Ancient people thought that there must be a "god" for every aspect of nature...rain god, sun god, fertility god, etc. It's not at all "creepy", just different than what most humans are use to today. There is a growing interest in ancient religions again such as Druidism, Wicca, Shamanism...even the Crowley stuff. I think people who have chosen to follow the path of "nature" religions do so because it speaks to them on a very deep level and brings them into being one with their environment. In a world of increasing technology, pollution and over crowding, a "back to nature" religion for some is very inviting. I think people who practice nature religions can easily relate to the earth, but find it difficult to relate to one almighty powerful God that is unseen. Nature religions are not to be confused with devil worship or Satanism. They are completely separate and have nothing to do with each other. As a matter of fact, in devil worship or in Satanism, ceremonies resemble the old Latin Catholic mass, only spoken in reverse and a naked woman is used as an alter. In Satanism humans and their fulfillment are put first before a higher power as in other religions. Humanity with all it's shortcomings is celebrated. In nature religions, nature and the Earth are celebrated. Big difference. Anyway, nature religions aren't anything to be afraid of and they aren't really creepy, just different from monotheism such as Christianity, Judaism and Islam. In case you're all wondering, no I'm not a Wiccan or anything like that, I'm Anglican, which for those of you who don't know what that is, it's a Protestant religion, commonly known as "The Church of England" or Episcopal in America. I'm not condoning or knocking other religions, I'm just open minded, tolerant and respectful of other beliefs. One of my fellow students once said, "Religion is like a radio, we all use it to listen to music, it's just that we all tune into a different station to get to that music, but no matter what station we listen to, ultimately, we are all listening to music."
by Engaged to be Married on 2006-09-23 11:51:46

bree, do you always sleep on one side of your face because one side of your face is a square but the other side just curves down like its been flattened. j/k cuz actually my face is the same way. why do you think this is??? sounds like the groundwork for another 'proving science wrong' if you ask me... btw does anyone know what the black roll on her desk is...maybe it's a clue..lol
by IntriguedinMD on 2006-09-23 13:23:26

There is another article out. This time with some good advice to the creators. http://www.fool.com/news/commentary/2006/commentary06092103.htm
by G on 2006-09-23 13:26:54

Oh, I looked up bibliomancy online and it has to do with Divination. Crazy. So when are we going to find out more about this cult? Is she supposed to be wiccan? Danielbeast's answer to this blog mentions robes. Robes + divination = HOGWARTS! LOL! She's a witch.
by Penny on 2006-09-23 17:52:33

Interesting, I am very curious. I wonder how much longer they will keep us hanging. By the way, that black thing on her desk looks like a bottle of Chanel fingernail polish. Not quite the clue you were hoping for IntriguedinMD. Sorry!
by Kat on 2006-09-23 19:39:32

wow
by newkid on 2006-09-23 23:21:55

First of all, the Equinox is NOT the ceremony she is participating in--she says it right in the video. She's going to the celebration, and it will be "the last thing [she] does with [her] parents before the ceremony." So, obviously the ceremony is at a later date. I think the black roll was just the marker she used to make her "flashcards." This is getting really interesting...keep it up!
by Jon on 2006-09-25 23:14:28

ok, i know i already posted this.. but i just haveto mention how cute it was when 'purple monkey' helped out with learning the enochian language..

by jamz on 2006-09-29 15:04:11

She is a practicing pagan. Tree of life is a tradition of paganism and also the letters she was showing are commonly used in that religion.
by Michelle on 2006-09-30 03:12:21

arent equinox's to do with paganism? bree is a pagan maybe?
