However (you knew there was a however), my reaction to this video was 1. TCC meant nothing ... doh! (but okay) 2. Our puzzle solving made no difference to the story. (ouch) There was interaction with Taylor on the beast chat forum, but in the end, it was not clear whether we solved anything and whether it made the slightest difference to the story presented. As a show, that's fine, but if it is an ARG, then it is a game, and the key element of successful game design is that they must be composed of "interesting" decisions that "matter." "Interesting" decisions means that there are a number of factors involved and there is not always just one obvious best choice during your play or turn. Chess choices are interesting. Monopoly choices are less interesting, especially in the early game (you should always buy). Decisions or choices that "matter" means that there are consequences, good and bad, to succeeding or failing... this is the more applicable point here. Is Lonelygirl15 just a show, a train that follows it's path no matter what fans do with ARG elements, or is it really becoming an Alternate Reality Game, where fan responses have visible impact on the story and fates of the characters? I'm not advocating strongly for one or the other, but ARG elements without consequences or impact could leave fans feeling they have wasted their efforts ... and then they may withdraw and invest less in the story during the next phase. It's tough to do well, so just something to think about - not meant to be a harsh indictment. Oh, and Bree's been through a lot. It might be fun if she is semi-permanently a little insane by now. The Order had never been far behind them (and in fact, in terms of Julia, I think the Order were ahead of them, no matter what they said about Julia calling them). Therefore, they could have afforded him an hour to get his hands stitched. They were on the run so there was nothing to keep them from going on the road again afterwards; they didn't have to come back to Jonas's aunt's and stay there. And the foosball joke was mean -- I didn't take it as a friendly joke because at that time they had only just been with Jonas for a few weeks, not long enough that Bree should be joking about anything about anyone. And that wasn't too long after her father's death, so she should not have been in the mood for joking. Let me say two things right off -- (1) kudos to Perky; I feel the same as you about the community of the LG15 comment board. (2) I'm posting my response HERE -- on the comment board -- not on LG15 Today, not in the Forums, not in IRC chat, but HERE on the comment board because I feel that this is the heart of LG15. Now to me, the two greatest issues are (a) there are things that happen on the forums, both through posts by fans, and post by the Creators, that the comment board community misses out on by the fact that we didn't all go looking there, and (b) that the hard work often done by fans on the comment board (figuring out puzzles, etc.) is not recognized (like in a shout-out from the characters) because, and only because, it wasn't done in character in the forum. To these two issues, I would like to respond (AND GREG, I'M SURE YOU'RE READING THIS) that (a) when there is something significant in the forums, it doesn't seem that it would be that difficult to post a link to the particular page here. Modelmotion does it. So does SARAH. And when they do, I check it out. So these links don't get lost in the mass of comments, you might consider creating another button or column for "Important Links" or "Important Info" as well as making it a post. As for (b), oh, come on, Greg! So the contribution wasn't made in the forum where the characters were "supposed" to see it. So WHAT? We've had to suspend our disbelief so many times for things that didn't make sense, you don't think we could do it for a shout-out? If a character included a particular name in a shout-out, do you think many people are going to even make the connection that the person named was only on the comment board, and not in the forum? What's more important, sticking to the strict logic of how the character knew to shout out to that person, OR making sure a fan who made a significant contribution is recognized and thanked? Huh? For me, I really don't want to go searching beyond this board. It's just too much work, and there's too many places to look. For a while, I tried reading the comment board, looking at the transcripts on LGPedia, reading the discussions in the Forums (although I always had trouble figuring out WHICH pages to read), skimming through the chat in IRC (although, once my being there without commenting got misinterpreted as "stalking," and I got banned, that didn't work any more), and reading the LG15 Today Blogspot. It's TOO MUCH!! I don't have that kind of time! I've now tried to narrow it down to the comment board -- which, after all, where I also watch the videos (can't cut that out) -- and an occasional look at LG15 Today.
