First, if this a "fashion industry" party as Daniel states in the beginning, it must be at a Walmart level. Yeah, they're playing classical music to make it sound high class, and the quick glance at the food spread looks fairly decent, but then you've got the shot of a guy drinking wine right out of a bottle. Not cool. Definitely not high class. More like a frat party. The house also wasn't that high class, nor was the fashion of these supposed fashionistas. Then, as someone already said, given the supposed industry and the age of the people there, the music really is wrong. Modern high tech would definitely be better. Does the "musician" in the white shirt really look like he'd be groovin' to the music they were playing? And where's the fun at this party? Talk about a group of uptight people! The only one I liked was the girl who hit on Jonas. She's practically the only one who actually seemed "real" to me, like a character you would expect to find at a party. To me, she was the drunk 20-something in her sexual prime who spotted a piece of male eye candy, and upon confirming that he was of legal harvestable age, became very pleased and interested, and tried to close the deal. Whether you like her or not (which I did), she came across as real -- AND having fun at a party! (Gee, what a concept.) On the other hand, what the hell was that argument between Alex and that guy? Was that a setup, or was it poor acting/editing? That scene seemed very contrived; the way he yelled like he was putting on a show to be heard, the cliche drink in the face. God, it seemed fake! OR just bad acting. Now, also, are we supposed to believe the cool ice princess we met at the airport ("Is he seriously asking me about Rome?) is suddenly really into Daniel? C'mon! I can understand an older woman being interested in Jonas, but Daniel? He's too immature, and just not in the same league as Alex. I can identify with Jonas in this one -- his "eh.." assessment of the party sitting on the couch in the beginning, feeling like he's not fitting in, the uncomfortable standing separated in the corner later, feeling somewhat better by the girl hitting on him, but overall not enjoying the party. Here's my guess (not completely worked out): Alex really is anti-Order, but she has infiltrated the Order as a spy and is trying to gather information to bring them down... so she invited Jonas/Daniel/Bree to come stay at her place as a part of her "work" for the Order, but she is trying to protect them at the same time without blowing her cover. Daniel is some kind of pawn, but the real target is still Bree. Alex and Jonas need to talk to realize they are both working against the Order, and that will come out in time. I admit I'm feeling a tad lazy this evening, but I don't think that's the sole reason I'm having trouble making sense of...well, pretty much everything here. I say it because the Creators really do seem to take fan opinion into account: Ever since Bree, Daniel, and Jonas left to go the Jonas' cabin, the series seems to have gotten progressively more watered down and plodding, and the characters less believable and more...just weird. All of my empathy for the characters have drained away, and while I still have some curiosity to see how things turn out, it's no longer the cool, juicy mystery-solving curiosity I had; it's more of a how-the-hell-are-they-gonna-fix-and-resolve-THIS curiosity. Of course, that's just my opinion. But that, combined with the relative silence concerning the recent ARG issues AND the fact that I am busy with school stuff right now, means that I'm going to put LG15 waaaay on the backburner for a while. Beth definitely seems like some kind of security person/authority, possibly for the Order, and did not want Toby talking freely to Jonas for some reason. Later on, we see her sitting on the arm of the sofa right behind Toby, so maybe she is keeping an eye on him. Imagine Daniel's home life, then imagine Jonas' life growing up, basically raised by his friends aside from a nanny. I feel compelled to add that I am not one to get excited by vulgarity, that in the real world I prefer to avoid the use of the name of the monotheistic God in most contexts at all. To me, vulgarities are simply words and phrases, with their place and purpose...and this is definitely the demographic that I would expect to see it in to the degree that it recently has begun appearing. First of all, I still stand by my comments in post #175 -- I wouldn't mind getting reaction from others. (Thanks Beornbear for your confirmation.) But as I've stated in previous comments, I've also been troubled by the Aunt Alex character. Things just don't make sense. Here we've got a woman who obviously is concerned about her privacy. Sure, she locks her front door, but who locks the door to a room on the inside of a locked house? Especially when she lives alone! She obviously must be pretty concerned about protecting what was in there, and maintaining her privacy. Now comes along her long lost nephew, Jonas, who she hasn't seen in 6 years (we now know he's 19, and hasn't seen her since he was 13), and from what he said in "My Hand Hurts", it does not appear that they have been in touch over that time (after his parents died, things became "awkward" - she "didn't know what to say"). It is also clear that she did not know he was coming to her house. When Bree asks if entering the house would be alright, Jonas responds that he thinks she would be cool with it, and that he thinks that she's on a business trip to Italy (I'd still like to know how he knew that), NOT that he had called her recently, and she said "Oh, you should stop in sometime." So, given all this, WHY is she so nonchalant about Jonas and two other people breaking into, and then taking over her house? Did she suddenly abandon her sense of security and privacy? Something is off here. Is it the writing, or is something else going on? Then, in looking back at what Jonas found in her office -- all those articles that he "thanks God" that she kept as a record -- well, why DID she keep them? Alright, maybe she kept articles about the disappearance of Jonas' parents because she was related, but they are in a larger file chronicling the deaths/disappearances of many people. In context, the articles on the disappearance of Jonas' parents are just part of a larger group on the same topic. The impression from Jonas' reaction is like she may have been involved with his parents' foundation or their anti-Order interests, but it seems more logical that a file like that may indicate that her interests were more nefarious -- like she was probably involved in these deaths and disappearances. Wouldn't that explain why the relationship with her became "awkward?" What WOULD she have said? "Yeah, kid, sorry about your parents, but they weren't getting in our way." Maybe her complacency about them breaking in is that she can't believe her good fortune that while they (the Order) have been trying to track them down and get Bree back, they just come along and deliver themselves up! I don't think Jonas is part of the Order. But I don't think the evidence looks good for Auntie.
